I love the surrounding apartments! Very cool!!I also really like those retaining walls! 1 thing, I think you should put the ferry stations on the other side of the peninsula. It kind of cramps up the marina and I doubt those ferrys have very much room to turn. Other than that, great!!!

Welcome to page 15 people! 39.gif39.gif39.gif

bobinator: I know the ferries are sort of squished, but I put them there to break up the monotony. With just a straight seawall, the area looks rather ugly. Since we don't have any smaller docks, I had to use them.
    your_address_here: Thanks!

Also, I started a thread for this in the general forum, but I thought I may as well post it here too. 1.gif

While browsing the internet, I stumbled across this site. Although these pictures are from 1996, they are very high quality and surprisingly, are all from about the same angle SC4 uses. They are UK cities, and most are suburban or rural. There are some breathtaking views on this site, and I hope that it will help people to build more realistic cities, and give you guys some inspiration.

    Here is the site.

    Hope you guys enjoy it!

    Update time! 49.gif

Today we will look at a brand new city, Pine Woods.

    p11js.jpg

Here is an overall picture of the city of Pine Woods. As you can see, it is still quite small, but suburban development will continue in this area.

    p24ms.jpg

Downtown Pine Woods. It is not too large, and will remain about this big. The city basically started when companies wanted to build close to Klondike City, but without the astronomical land prices.

Here is the waterfront district. It is mostly comprised of touristy restaurants and a boardwalk with plenty of outdoor tables.

Very nice work MayorTim. But I have to ask you, I thought Klondike Delta had a very cold Canadian-like climate. Now I'm seeing palm trees! So what exactly is the climate in Klondike Delta? I really judged it by the water color.

Your suburbs also never fail to amaze me. Those industrial neighborhooods are looking awesome as well. And that little strip of downtown is really nice. Great job! 44.gif

KOSC: Yes, this is the long lost never developed area. Good eye!
    RHF: Yep!
Mike: It does have a very cold Canadian climate. If you are talking about the palm trees in the park in Pine Woods, than you caught me! I know it isn't very realistic, but you have to remember: I'm from Florida! I see Palm Trees every day when I walk outside, and they are so beautiful! I could only restrain myself from including some type of palms into my region.

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

Off topic: I think the next region I am going to do after this will be a tropical Florida-like region.

Actually, as far as the palm trees, Mayor Tim, transplanted palms could possibly survive there - at least, seasonally. They really don't need that warm a climate; just a lot of precipitation. You see them all over southern England. We have no palms in New Jersey, unfortunately, but we do have plenty of bamboo.

Finally, near the close of my Spring Break, I have started to work on another new city. Most of it is not ready for the public's eyes, but the downtown section is done. The area I am showing in this sneak peek was inspired mostly by L.A. I am sure you will see the resemblance.

    p17he.jpg

The areas not ready for this journal are blotched out. This picture has been color edited because I hate the way the default night view looks.

    Thanks!

Mikeaut: Thanks, and don't say this looks like Las Vegas, because there is already a Casino and Gambling based city in R&D. 1.gif

    I would like to present........

    p16cf.jpg

Norwood, the city that was featured in last night's sneak peek, is now ready for show. At least, sort of. There won't be any close ups for a while, and it is nowhere near done. Still, I wanted to get this picture up tonight.

Comments or suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

Thanks for all of the comments everyone!

Casper3141, Gundamdude, and KOSC: Thanks for your support!
Sc4 cewl: Thanks for the comment dude! I can't wait to see what you will do with your version of the region!
Utora: Welcome to my cj! Thanks for the wonderful comment, though New Holland is definitely better than this. Good work on your journal!

An update MIGHT come tonight, but don't get your hopes up. We learned something in Science Class today that I don't understand much, and is (to me) very complicated. I got homework on it, and don't know how long it will take me to finish (if I even do it, lol 2.gif!)

I'm taking a break from my homework, and was toying around with google maps, and came up with this picture.

    This is my suburban neighborhood.

Pine Woods looks great. Norwood looks great too, I like the skyscrapers rising out of an otherwise low density area. It reminds me of pictures of LA and other real world cities.

BTW, is that highway I-95 in the picture? I've been on that stretch in Florida before, so if it is, then I practically went right by your house. That's pretty weird. 3.gif

    Great job, keep it up.

Norwood looks good, well-planned. Here's hoping the workers in those skyscrapers keep their windows closed, or at least wear gas masks....!

Some bad news in this update, as well as my first attempt at a newspaper. 22.gif

    p21ux.jpg

For those of you too lazy to read: there has been a fire at Norwood's nuclear power station, and radiation has now leaked throughout the industrial area there. I am looking for a lot that will scrub the area of radiation, but the 2 radiation scrubbers on the STEX both say not to download. I would hate to have to wait like 100 years for the radiation to go away, but if I have to I will.

BTW: How long does it take for radiation to ware off enough for buildings to redeveloped?

It takes about 10,000 Sim years to go back to normal! An incredible amount of time!!!!!!!! Good luck trying to wait it out!
