National Scout Sunday

Well, I'm a day late; but, yesterday was national scout sunday. I got in my uniform, put on my OA sash, took my Eagle medal out of its protective case and wore it, with a cane that a boy made as a get well present for me over christmas, and attended a church service.

On that sunday, scouts around the nation attended church, synagogues, or mosques, thanking the citizens for supporting them in their day to day activities.

Though I am not a Christian, I attended the church service to thank the many people there for donating the money to the troop I am an adult leader of, so that we can participate in many amazing scout activities.

Does anybody have any scout stories here to share? Also, do we have any other scouts or former scouts at the site?

Let's get a list going, it'll be nice to see who we can honour for this wonderful date.

I'm an Eagle Scout, just passed my BoR last November! Not OA, though...

Didn't know there were other scouts on Simtrop... Has anyone else gone to Philmont?

congratulations on passing your board of review for Eagle, may I ask what your project was?

I can't remember exactly what mine was, but I do recall it having to do with re-wiring retirement buildings.

EDIT: no, I haven't. but I do plan to go when my health improves. currently, hiking isn't on my agenda.

I had the intention when I was about 12 to join the Boy Scouts and work to be an Eagle...I never joined...I don't know why...It isn't too late, I've thought about doing it...I just don't know...But I can say I know a lot of boy scouts and support it very much!

I'm no scout, the situation with scouts here is so politically set-up and (in a way) funny, it's just not worth it. Besides, I'm a selfish narcisist, I don't really fit in there. 9.gif

I made it to Star in junior high and even was elected to Order of the Arrow at Camp Louis Ernest in southern Indiana.  I quit in high school so that I could spend time running cross country and track.

I don't know if there is a special olympics version for my son who has developmental disabilities, but I am looking forward to my daughter becoming a Brownie and a Girl Scout when she gets old enough.  Hmmmmmmm Thin Mints!16.gif

You can add me as an Eagle. I earned it last June, a very short time before my 18th birthday.

Actually, our troop just had an Eagle who was autistic. He and I are the only ones of our scouting generation to make it all the way...He even went to Philmont with us!

I pray and work with my son everday for him to become high functional enough for those kinds of things to happen.1.gif

There are special troops that you should look into. I'm not sure if there are special cub packs though, but you can find out. Depending on how well he's doing by the time comes, he might be just fine for a normal troop too.
