Teacher Arrested

At New York's Kennedy Airport today, an individual later discovered to be a NYC public school teacher was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, protractor, set square, slide rule and calculator.

At a morning press conference, a White House spokesman said authorities believe the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. The man is being charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of maths instruction.

Al-Gebra is a fearsome cult, the spokesman said.

They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute value.

They use secret code names like `x' and `y' and refer to themselves as unknowns', but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of mediaeval, with co-ordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, there are three sides to every triangle.

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, If God had wanted us to have better weapons of maths instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.

    As does yours.2.gif

Personally, I'm a fan of Al Gebra. In fact, I was off on a tangent searching for absolute values just this morning!!48.gif

You know what they say. Tan:11 may equal 0.194380309, but Tan:0.194380309 doesnt equal 11!17.gif

I have always been an adherent of Al Gebr. This cult consistently makes something from simple assumptions and let me tell you the whole is definitely greater than the part. Further, dividing by zero (invented by Al Gebr) definitely breaks the arithmetic machine. This causes the whole business to be undefined.

Now if you are taking this seriously, I suggest that if you had a ones complement performed on you the result would be all one bits.

18.gif  Well, one thing that gave it away was the word maths, which I have never heard an American use.   Over here, at least back when I was in school, that word is singular.  Never knew it could be plural until I started talking with European students.  Just one of those little quirks in the language as it mutates across the pond.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I was always wondering why the Al-Gebra teachers would attempt to smite me if I disrespected their great book. Also, they would threaten me with more smiting if I did not do my assignments 5 times a day! Tis brainwashing, I tell ya!

My teacher also called me an infidel for liking geometry more than algebra...9.gif

Well, it depends. The subject is mathematics, and it is plural, so who is right. When I was in high school in Canada, in my last year I took three maths. Of course, being Canadian, we tend to be cameleons on this.

As for Chuck Norris, I'll just call in Rainbow Six and his boys.

Chuck Norris can not only divide by zero, but he can round-house kick those repeating decimals and imaginary numbers into freaking natural integers, man!

That's wasn't very nice of your teacher. I think you should have used your famous catch phrase and said, silence knave!

What's this? Math is threatening our freedom? Weapon's of mass instruction!38.gif18.gif

And while we're on a Chuck Norris tangent there's a funny website that generates facts about him called Random Facts About Chuck Norris. Has anyone read these? Here's a few.
