Yes, obviously, the canals question seems important to me...9.gif
So the question I was wondering was : What canals do you use for what city ?...
I explain : there a three majors canals in the stex : Peg's one, SimGoober's ones, and Oppie's one.
Here is a few mix of what can be done with the three... (wide and narrow versions) :

But, what canals do you use in your cities ? Do you think that more than one can be used in the same city, that a mixing could be enough aesthetic ?
Or will it be ugly ?
Thanks for your opinions1.gif

It is best not to mix three canal systems together. If you can, why not try coming up with an idea, where a canal system could transition into another.

It is a good idea, i'll try to think about it... but for the realisation, i can't because i've never made anything for smi city... (maybe i could see to learn a little bit, just to see how bats and lots could be done...48.gif)

    Thanks for your answer

Oppie's. I loathe the other canals on the STEX. The Water textures are horrid. I also like the design of the japanese arabian canals, even though the water still leaves a bit to be desired.

I actually use SG's and Peg's exclusively... I really like how Peg's can be transitioned to and from his ponds/streams (though the water texture is not yet 100% the same... it's on his to do list).  I also really like the ships and boats available for Peg's.  They make an industrial area look good, and they work in other areas of cities as well.

I like how SG's really dress up a city.  They make a high wealth area look that much more snazzy.  I don't really think they're quite as appropriate for industrial areas... they just look too nice.

I used to use Oppie's... but I haven't used them since SG came out with his.

Oppie did a excellent Canal Set but I lean more towards Goober and Peg.I suggest you try each designers Canal and then you will find out which better set feels right.

I vote for PEG's. I use the green water mod which is realistic, and PEG's canals have almost the sma colors, so they two blend together well.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

I tend to prefer Pegs canals but I like to use SGs mills so I use his canals more these days, but I think Pegs work is more flexable.

I use both Simgoobers and Pegs as I didn't see Oppies until recently. I really like how Barbyw transitioned from Pegs to SGs (what else would one expect from a goddess 29.gif ?) I do wish though that they would agree on a color for the water (I really think SGs is too blue).

I only use PEGs and SGs. I don't use Oppies, mainly because of their inconvinient location at the top of the parks menu. Then again, if you are prepared to make the effort, 'real water' canals are excellent especially with one of PEG's water and rock mods.

I use in my cities the simgoober canals.

They are more detailed and are more easy to put.

personally i prefer pegs because i dont know why but they feel more 'right' then sg's. i am also pff put by the imo weird colour sg canals use for water. also i liek how peg's canals can tranform to streams then waterfalls.

i have never used oppies but i think that i am going to try them out now.

also another good thing about the peg canals is the ammount of addons and upsates to them, drawbridges, swivel bridges, random barges, the list is endless and it personalises you canal system.

in sg's defence i think his work better in city centers while pegs are more industrial.
