Mars Garden concept I don't remember but I will look it up.. This bat was started by Sarg and I have just added a few finishing touches to it including some nightligting Sarg had some in allready I just added to it...

I agree with Ash on the night lighting; brightly lit, seems more attractive to view, IMO.

The Mars Garden appears a bit alien to me. Actually I am certian I saw a similar dome in Final Fantasy game? Not really sure where, but it looks very very familiar.
 
Okay, I am sure you all hate me by now, or at least, find me slightly annoying at this point.  The Mars Garden just doesn't fit in, quite like it should.
 
You may need to 86 some of those moody textures. The dome wreaks of eerieness, instead of an attractive, relaxing, garden feel.

Lynks: Geez I am sorry.  After I read my previous post, it sounded awful mean. But I did mean well.

Guess the only thing I am giving to SimMars is, a pain in the crater.

I have told you before that you need to calm down and take it easy this is just a game. You may be driving some of us nuts but you need something to do... how about doing the highway textures. you can also help me with the avenue textures I need a round piece think you can do it..

 
look in the transportation thread here on ST.. and please rememebr this is just a game and its not as important as Real Life....

I agree that the Garden looks a bit too alien.
Remember the Utilitarian Tileset guidelines. We're doing the Utilitarian stuff ONLY for now.

I suggest you try to change the texture of the racks to an obvious technical look, like technical surfaces. Let's see how it looks then. You will have to remove the ornamental decoration elements and textures, that everything but Utilitarian.

For your question for the farm tiling (sorry for getting back to that so late), I'd say finish your farms first.

I will finish outdoorsman's stuff (the farm storage tank you found is from him). He uploaded it for me on the webcollab, so don't worry about that.

Here is what the 1x1 tiles do
 
they provide fields for the main lots for the Farm hands to work in mine I have are from Grampa Al before he retired from ST.. So I beleive they are also set to provide 1 job per tile and also cleans the air in small amounts.
 
so this said the farms need the 1x1 tiles and I have asked a BSC member if they can be taken out and this person said no.
 
So I must push one more time or ask Ash about it.
 
I have given you three different options Please choose one or all options so I can compleate these farms. I will have a total of 2 of my own farms and 2 more redone from the Landmark farm.

These two lots were originally done as Landmarks these are outdoorsmans Domes. Now in this one you can see the main farm lot the 1x1 tiles around it I chose to use the tubes as the field lots.

this is my Mars dome.. as requested I got rid of the trans stuff and I tightly fited the building on the lot. the 1x1 tiles I chose to use these storage tanks.

this is my other Ag dome and again I tightly fited the bat on the lot as requested and this one is using a ground texture for the 1x1 tiles.

A good question. The 1x1's grow crops seasonally, with our usual farming and have/add contrast to the the main farm buildings.

So in Simmars; we can grow alot of fungii. mushrooms! cultivated virtually over night with little need for sunlight. Not to mention, low to the ground, smaller type, growing domes, that may give you back your contrast.
 
 
Live stock: it may be horrid in RL, but chicken, rabbits and other smaller game, can be housed in small containment areas as well. maybe not glass domes then but small 1x1 coops.

I have tried to make things look more mars like. I have taken a short break on Sim Mars to work on LOTR since with my job and all I can't  do both.

 
Plus this time of year is real busy for us...

Hi all, i'm quite new here on the forum although i read a lot.
I like the SimMars project a lot so i started to do a lil modeling myself.
This is my first attempt with gmax to actually create something and it's far from finished.
Frequent saving and Undo are my best friends lol.

The plan is to make some residental or commercial building from it.
It has an entrance for underground parking allready.
It's base is now fitting on a 1x1 lot but maybe it's to small.
What do you guys think so far??
Any suggestions are appreciated very much.

Is it still possible to make windows this way??
Is there some tutorial out there to make domes btw, I want to make them look like glass domes with some flora and fauna inside.

if you want to change it from a solid to a none solid is not that hard.

it might be a bit of work but it's not hard
select your solid and convert it to a poly
select each side of the solid face one at a time
Hold the shift key and drag it ahead a very tiny bit
Clone it to object
When you have them all done, delete the solid
 
 
The other thing you could do is add maps as windows to the solid
which would be alot easier anyway

sorry I have not responded. This bat looks really good so far.,.. Keep working on it would like to see the end result. Again sorry I took a break for a little while. I am now back. If you need help please let me know...
