Hey, how you doin'?  Well, I've decided to take the plung and do a thread on my BATs.  The reason why I'm doing this is because....  I've read many many many threads about BATters making a thread to show off their work, to get feed back from those that have exceptional talent in texturing, lighting, and other techniques in BATing skills.

I had ask Dirk to take off my old Super Target, because I'm planning to replace it with this one.  I had promised a member that I would make a bigger Super Target for his game.  This of course will be a Mega Lot.

Now, the texturing I've used for the walls is a multi-brown brick.  Now, I've tried doing the Dodge/Burn technique from Gascooker's tutorial in the Omnibus.  The building isn't done, but I thought I go ahead and show what I've done.  The building/BAT is far from being completed. Of course I would like to get advise from those that can help me further in my BATting skills.  Thanks for taking time out and helping out!

Yay! Finally you have a BAT thread! 39.gif

First of all, I'd like to thank you personally for all the great BATs you have uploaded so far. While most of them were ugly flat boxes, this is in fact what made them good: They just look so much like all the ugly flat real-life boxes that house supermarkets, shopping centres and such. SC4 really needed that, not only show-off towers, and your recreations have always been true to life as far as I can tell. Together with some other BATters like the ubiquitous SimGoober, JaWood, and not to forget the genius KevDan25 with his restaurants, you made nothing less than a CS revolution possible!

Instead of endless rows of the same, ever-repeating Maxis shops and boutiques, we can now have realistic low-rise commercial areas with all their characteristics, not least thanks to your dedication to the BAT. This calls for a bunny! 35.gif

Then again, for a pretty long period, your older BATs used to have light leaks that made the walls around the ceiling and most roofjunk elements shine unnaturally. Another issue that took a while to be improved were tiled and/or rather bland roof textures, which were all the more obvious due to the nature of the buildings you make.

That's why I think your decision to open a thread is just perfect, and I hope you will get much feedback here and improve your skills even further!

I know that you have recently learnt how to make growable mega lots, and the fact that you are trying to put gascooker's tricks into practice is great news, too! The roof texture of the new building (and of the recent one, Fry's Electronics) look better than on the two uploads before, too. This improvement makes me wonder if you have read 6459978's texturing quasi-tutoriol already. It can be found on page 12 of his Toronto BAT Thread, and IMHO, it's the best tutorial you can get when it comes to making kick-*ss roof textures on buildings with flat rooftops.

Well, enough text for now - I'm glad you have opened this thread, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your super BATs on the STEX! 1.gif

Thanks T Wrecks - I guess I should of done this long time ago.  About reading 6459978's texturing 'quasi-tutorial' - I haven't (shame on me) but thanks for pointing this out to me, and definately, I'll make a point in reading it.

I've got one question though  - what's an IMHO? 42.gif

Well bourneID - I had to do this, if I'm seriously wanting to improve my BATting skills.  Though I wish I had done this ages ago.  I'm hoping to get pointers or tips.  I am planning to go back to my older stuff and redoing them over again - making those ploppables into growables as well - retexturing them, fixing the leaky roofs that lights filter out through.  It's gonna be a lot of work, but the doctor wants me to stay off my foot for another couple of months, so I guess it's the best time to do it.  Official member of my fan club - 17.gif I hope you don't get too lonely17.gif

That target looks very realistic, and that is a very universal design which could be almost anywhere in the world! 9.gif

I agree with everyone of these people here when I say that you're the absolute best BATer in my own personal opinion. Keep it up! And as T Wrecks said, this calls for a bunny!35.gifAnd Bunnies!35.gif35.gif35.gifThe bunny trio! Dance my furry friends, dance!

I've decided to make my own props - dumpsters, both a regular and recycle dumpster for Super Target.

    <img align=baseline>

These two will probably be released as regular Props.

Hi bobbo, I'm no BAT expert so my critique won't help a great deal, but that Target is looking good so far!

Also, thanks for the great BATs or Lots or whatever they're called that you've done before, your Citgo station and HyVee store get lots of use in my cities! Keep up the good work 1.gif

You do some great work, I especially like your gas stations.  I usually tweak the lot though, I use your signs and buildings and use deadwoods covered pump islands and some other props and the gas stations come out looking very real!!  Thanks for all the hard work you do!

Incredible. Truly a great original to have in a game! That Super Target looks exactly like one north of Houston... so do the dumpsters. 18.gif

Hmm...looks really good...the only recommendation I would have is to shrink the sign a little...seems too large...

Okay, this is good .... looks alittle squat - is there a measure device on STEX to measure the accurate height ?  It's about the same height as my Wal-Mart Supercenter give or take a few inches.

Smaller sign/letters - okay.  Thanks Dev.

First off, THIS LOOKS GREAT! The only thing I would do is, if possible, define the curve of the center wall a bit more, other than that its fantastic.
