EDIT:  Interestingly, a very high numer of people got four numbers last night!  Probably all the same numbers!

Probably.   That is one of many reasons not to play those numbers.  The prize would be split too many ways.

And, be careful what you wish for.  I've already been yelled at by one Brit for discussing too much of season 2 of Lost, seeing as how you guys are only on season 1 over there.  If you discuss it here, there will be many spoilers.

How are they only on season 1? I could understand if they had to translate it (I know Slovenia's Desperate Housewives are a few months behind, and the French version here is maybe 3 weeks behind) still, they get ABC dont they?

Weird.

I've never won more than 15 dollars on a scratch ticket. Well, actually, I won 10 on one, and later in the day won 5 on another.

Hmm, I think this thread will need to be split in two eventually...

Anyway, I love Lost, though I can't believe everyone died except for Sawyer and Jin... and putting Godzilla on the island was a horrible plot twist...

Why would you play the numbers? You think they may be good luck, but what if they're bad numbers? Who's to say?

We get ABC, but it's a different version, and Lost is on E4/Channel 4 anyway.

well channel 4 has announced in a ridiculous way that it's now airing lost this coming spring, here's what i can remember what they said in that advert straight after the end of series 1:

this a public announcement: we here at channel 4 are wondering what is going to happen to the survivors, who are the others and what the hell is in that hatch! we can not wait another year! so we're airing the second series of lost this spring

don't judge that to be correct though34.gif my memory ain't that good18.gif3.gif

Call me crazy, but I think that the LOST numbers might be tied in with the lottery.  This is the fourth or fifth time that I've heard of someone betting on those numbers and nearly winning the lottery.  I have to wonder if ABC called in some mathematicians when it was cooking up the LOST series.

Just some random post, but almost every number they use in Lost is Hurley's numbers. The flight number (8 and 15) and everything. If you guys are obsessed with lost, go to www.channel4.com/lost and click on Lost: Untold, it's pretty good, but possibly hints at things that has already been revealed in series 2...

Last year, my Italian teacher had this thing where he would throw a peice of chalk over his shoulder and have it land on the chalk tray in front of the chalkboard almost every time. Every time he did it, h would say something ike I really should play the lottery today... I doubt he ever did, though. No one else could ever do what he did and land it properly, though.

In my family, most of us never play the lottery. Although many of us did buy just a few tickets when the powerball jackpot hit record highs. My grandmother plays NY lotto scratch off games a lot. She also eats a lot and is very overweight. Then again, she had her first child at 17 (she was married), and raised seven kids, a good portion of them in the projects. Poor planning and/or lack of foresight has been a common theme in my mom's parents' lives....

So, yeah.

Please play responsibly3.gif

P.S.: there are 11,441,304,000 possible number combinations a typical six number lottery.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

So...are you trying to start the new weight loss craze?  Stop playing the lottery and lose up to 50 pounds in 6 months!  I guess it would be as effective as some of the other diet plans floating around 21.gif

Don't blame poor planning or a lack of foresight on having a large family.  I obviously don't know your grandparent's specific situation but a lot of families in the first half of the 1900's were large.  Birth control wasn't widely used for a few reasons so that naturally led to more children.  Well, that wasn't exactly what led to more children, but you get the idea! 3.gif

That is scary!
I don't play the lottery for an obvious reason (you have to be 18 to play the lottery in Australia) and the good thing is that there is 4 main lotterys to choose from. You have the original Tattslotto (saturday) OzLotto (tuesday) Wednesday Tattslotto and Powerball (thursday). My grandmother likes to play the Saturday Tattslotto every week and uses the house numbers of her sons and daughter. (She has 3 sons and 1 daughter so thats 4, her own house that makes 5 but i dunno where she gets the 6th one from!) Tattslotto has 6 numbers and 2 supps drawn, Powerball has 5 numbers and 1 'powerball', OzLotto has 7 numbers and 2 supps (it used to be 6 numbers but the government changed it because it was too similar to tattslotto).

It would be funny if the 6 lost numbers were chosen in one of the lotteries here!

Well, I won't give out any info, but tonight's episode (Episode 35, Season 2) was AWESOME. Why do I have to wait a whole week to see more? Why?! 45.gif

I'm so happy when the Power Ball came to Texas. Anyways, I found a ticket laying on the ground with just one number away from winning the $67 million... of course I gave it to my parents and we got some money out of it (at that time I was 7 years old!!)... I don't think anyone won it until the week later.

On my local radio station, Broadland FM, it was reported that a man had used the Lost numbers to win the lottery. They even had an interview with him on the phone. It was later revealed that he had used 47 instead of 42 to win and the story was dropped 3.gif.

just seen on the web that in a recent american lottery worth millions, hundreds of people used those numbers, luckily the numbers were'nt the lost numbers as they would have won around $300 each18.gif the story:

Anything bad happen yet? No? Good. Inspired by the hit TV show Lost - and ignoring the fate of the character who played those numbers for a huge lottery win - hundreds of people selected that set of six for the Wednesday night drawing for the $340 million Powerball jackpot.

According to a Wisconsin Lottery spokeswoman, more than 840 people selected those numbers across five states during last week's Powerball drawing, including 266 in New Hampshire alone.

A lot of people are playing those numbers, said Eva Robelia, spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Lottery. There could be thousands of people who play the 'Lost' numbers overall.

I've been tempted to play Mega Millions when it gets really huge, but I never have. I don't even know if I would want that much money. In fact, I'm relatively sure I wouldn't. $310 million is a lot of money...I don't know if I would be able to spend it and still have some sort of purpose in life.

Sure you would, yellow.  If nothing else, you could start a scholarship fund for kids to go to college.

But I know what you mean.  If I had that kind of money, I would want to remain anonymous.  too many crazy people out there.

Yeah, I suppose I'd keep a bit, pay for college and fix my house, and then put some in the bank, and give the rest away.

Maybe get some nice things for my friends and give ST a nice little donation44.gif.
