Why Transparent Holes?

Hi all,

I have eagerly been getting back into the game with the new package manager and have lots of new mods installed. I am quite happy with all the performance tweaks I have been able to make and everything seems to be working extremely well now. However, I do have one annoying issue. Please see the attached image.

Sometimes, when I plop very specific buildings like power sources, water, and in some cases, tunnels through mountains, I get what appears to be a graphical glitch where there are holes of some sort if I plop such an object on steep terrain. Any idea what is going on here and any possible fixes? I am using a dedicated Nvidia GPU and rendering in hardware mode, so I am wondering if it is a graphics problem.

Thanks!

Hi! It looks to me like you're dealing with a fairly common bug that happens with lots with a transparent base texture. Do you have this DLL? If not, give it a try first.

Yes, I already have that mod unfortunately. I have been experimenting with possible mod conflicts now and the issue appears to be related to the CAM 3.0 CAM-Controller because when I remove those files from my plugins folder, the issue goes away. So I am really confused. Is there something special I need to do after installing CAM 3.0 with the new package manager or other dependencies?

    Thoughts??

Oof. Not a CAM 3 user so I don't really know (my instinct would say no there's nothing extra you'd need to do, but I could be wrong), but it does install a lot of extra stuff not included in the 2.x versions. Tagging @Ulisse Wolf the CAM 3 expert.

    Have you installed this mod?

Have you installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2022+ x86 Redistributable?

Maybe it's not working because it was installed in a subfolder. @TheGreatDoge, try moving the DLL file directly to the Plugins folder.

Also, as Ulisse said, check if you have installed Visual C++, as instructed by the readme, because that's the program that allows the game to understand what's written inside the DLL.

Thanks for all the tips and information guys. I am busy getting a new computer ready to go and configured, which of course means redoing some initial setup for the game as well. And this is all on top of a high workload with normal life for the next few days.

I'll check back in and give you all an update when I have some more time towards the end of the week.

Update to everyone interested and helping me with the issue:

I have totally reinstalled everything for the game from the ground up, and I no longer seem to be getting this problem anymore.

So, I am not actually quite sure what was going on, perhaps corruption somewhere in a file I originally had.

Thanks for all the help though in showing me where to look and other troubleshooting information!
