Some questions about SimCity 4

(My level of English is not good, so my text may have grammatical errors.)

1) I've noticed there are countless mods for giant buildings that serve as landmarks or commercial buildings. Are there any mods for high-end residential skyscrapers?

2) I've been trying to use a mod called 'Large Map' to create larger cities in SimCity 4, but I'm only able to create small ones, even when following the tutorial. Are there any other mods that can help me build cities beyond the game's standard size limits?

3) I'm looking for a mod that can ensure maximum building development in a specific region. In my cities, even though I have populations exceeding 1 million, some areas with high quality of life are not developing into residential skyscrapers. Is there a mod that can force these areas to reach their full building potential?

I'm not sure which mod that would be. There was an April Fools joke about some megasized city tile, but it was in jest. Do you have a linky to the one you are trying to use?

Your play style is completely different than mine, but I know of at least one person who used The Plopmatic 9000 and I experimented with it some. It's a demand enhancer.

Let's beep @Jidan as I've seen pics they post and their cities seem to be all skyscrapers. Perhaps they'd have some tips.

It would be interesting to have a mod that would allow you to combine, for example, an area of 4 large cities, but the game would have to recognize more than 4GB of RAM and multicore processors.

I have 9GB of files in the plugins folder and the game keeps crashing and slows down a lot after the city gets really big.

Judging by the fact that this mod has been uploaded on April 1st, I think that this has just been a joke. Nobody can make it work, and as far as I know, the city tile sizes are hardcoded and cannot be modified by legal means.

This mod can reduce loading time of the game, at least for me, it works really well:

This mod also helps with reducing the amount of crashes, especially if you have NAM installed. It resolves a bug that makes your game return to desktop when hovering with the mouse cursor over a transit-enabled lot while having a puzzle piece selected.

Also, you might want to read this post I wrote, about an important way to reduce crashes. It's 10 years old, but nevertheless still important.

the only way to make your wish come true is to contact EA to ask them to release the source code for SC4

    Yep!

Oh, and this banner I added atop the file long, long ago is another indication:

So yeah, @Colorado Very Large Maps Mod is not real and it will never work.

i will be so incredibly happy if we're ever able to expand the city sizes.

    Spoiler

Course, now it makes me wonder if maybe we could just up the general city sizes, without altering the region view.

    Like, currently it goes:

    • small: 1x1 km
    • medium: 2x2 km
    • large: 4x4 km

but, if we could ever get the code for it, we could potentially just bump them all up a couple levels, so you'd end up with:

    • small: 4x4 km
    • medium: 8x8 km
    • large: 16x16 km

cause realistically, i don't really think there's that many people who would want to stick with the current small/medium tiles much, if at all. Though if it's done via DLLs, I suggest a way for the system to register how it works per region, so as to let others who have built up the smaller cities don't lose them when they play even with that kind of a patch. But those are some notes for a later date as needed

that april fools upload always gets my hopes up when i see it, but then I'm having to check the tags to see what I'm working with, lol

I'm trying to create a metropolitan region similar to Planet Coruscant from Star Wars.

I'm looking for high-density residential buildings.

Sorry for a bit late since I'm just cleaning up my house lol. But @Colorado, you did everything right. It's just the game doesn't automatically upgrade everything to hi-rises for some reason. There are tips that I can share with you:

The first thing you can do is to spread some trees, preferably god mode trees, in areas that you need hi-rises but not happening for various reasons. To get god mode trees, hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift and click the god mode icon at the same time. Then, plop the god mode trees as you are in the real god mode. Alternatively, you can use this mod this bring god mode into your mayor mode terraforming menu.

You can also plop parks around the area if you think god mode is cheating and/or filling zoned areas with unnecessary trees. The good thing is both work the same since what you did with plopping either two is you're inducing what's known as transient aura. Here's the best discussion of it:

Second, reduce your taxes in developers that you want to bring in. Let's say you want to bring in R$$$. What you can do is first, check out the RCI graph. If R$$$ demand is strong, leave it as is. Otherwise, you may have to reduce or even eliminate (by entering 0%) the tax to R$$$. Watch out for the RCI graph again. If the demand is getting stronger, congrats, you have strong R$$$ and should be able to grow R$$$ easily. If not, lower the tax again until the graph is very high if you really want to grow it easily. Speaking of demand, you can utilize demands from neighboring cities. First, grow your neighboring cities and save them. Second, go into your main city and check the RCI. If the RCI is pretty high, congrats, you should be able to utilize what's known as extrapolated demand. Repeat this step in order to update the RCI. I can't confirm this but fair warning, according to the Prima Guide, you have to fulfill at least 10% of your city's growth. Otherwise, the extrapolation is gone and you'll be harder to grow higher-rise buildings.

Third, use blockers. Here's the best article on it by @11241036:

In the article, you can also find the link to Maxis blockers. Assuming you have enough custom BATs, it should work. So how this works is the game is guessing which building should be grown in a given zone. The game tries to balance density, wealth, and desirability. The problem is when you have so many BATs, the game won't give you great balance, resulting in cases like low-density mansion being built just because the game thinks the area is desirable enough for that. What blockers do is to limit the choice made by the game. You'll get high-rise if your custom BATs are all about high-rises, and vice versa. It's quite easy to use, really. Just drop the Maxis blocker into your plugins and done. Of course, if it's conflicting with other mods, just put "zzz_" (how many z's you want) prefix on the front of the blocker. And if all fails, just install CAM and install it with skyscraper setting.

I think @Terring has an advice for that. He's doing on space stuff so I think he probably can help you.
