I'm about to buy a new system, I'm currently stuck using a damaged laptop with insufficient memory to play SC4. When I set up the new system I'm looking for a directory structure to start off with that's basically 2 folders deep. All I'm looking for is a list of the most common team groups with a list of the members of each group to start my structure off, it's been about 8 yrs since I've installed SC4 and since my last system crashed and took my main drive with it I lost all of my hard work organizing, and from what I can remember the BSC folder was a beast organizing and now that most sites have replaced the Auto installing files with zip files I just want to keep things grouped under the original teams. Either a zip file with names and empty folders or a simple txt file of the structure will work. After I get my system organized I'll dat pack and burn the original structure to DVD for future storage once I eliminate any conflicts and have the new system running the game again.

If anyone can help an old man, thanks in advance.

I'm not looking forward to reinstalling with my carpal tunnel problems.

Well one bit of good news there is that many of the BSC packages, when they were converted to ZIP files, have been designed to automatically use such a folder setup when you unzip them. There will be a root BSC folder, within it separate folders for each modder's content.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Hi!

That was the approach that I was applying when I started working on the so called Project Zip. However the structure often deeper than 2 folders for practical reasons. In the case of the BSC team's contents it's something like: BSC/( member name )/( content name ). In some cases there might be an other collector group after the member name.

Currently the old LEX contents (with the vaste majority of the BSC contents) are being reorganized for easier access, they will be rehosted on SC4Evermore.

Other organisation projects are planned but not yet executed for teams like NDEX, HKABT and NYBT.

I might be able to dig out the list of NDEX users, I have not collected a full list for the others yet.

Thanks guys, I've downloaded just about everything I was interested in from both of the main 2 SC4 sites still around but as yet haven't opened any of the zips. so if they all have a base structure from the plugins then my request has been answered. My main concern was the first 2 folders with team names and then creator names. From that point on I can add other content found on 3rd party sites into an already set up structure and control the sizes of my dat-packed files after I eliminate any conflicts and clean up my plugins folder. At 65 my vision is starting to get a little fuzzy and my keyboard skills are minimal and the only 3 games I still want to play are SC4, Minecraft & Sims 3. I don't care for all the newer games where you need to access a ton of keys on the keyboard and when on a tablet I tend to mess up anything I'm building when using a touch screen. SC4 was always my favorite and this old Win 7 laptop with a broken screen hooked to my TV doesn't have enough memory to install NAM, so that kind of defeats the joy of building cities. The 2001 laptop isn't worth the cost of $80+ to increase the memory when I can buy a refurbished system for a few dollars more at $180 with a 128 GB SSD & 2TB drive, 16GB ram and a 2 GB GPU on Amazon and get a 10% discount on top of that because my son-in-law works for Amazon.

Anyway if the new zip files have the first 2 folders in the structure I can work with that.
