SC4 Deluxe Steam Version Never Launches

Hello,

I'm sure there's a number of others out there with this game and compatibility issues on +2019 and newer hardware. I'm getting the dreaded 0xC0000005 never-launch from Steam. No matter the change, the error message doesn't change, only the loaded dll list changes.

I've tried a few things with my new Lenovo Legion Go (AMD Radeon). I also noticed an issue with certain applications wrapping up to DX9 don't play nice either, has to use something higher or bare metal.

Follow this guide (The English version will be released next year). 

The problem is easy to solve since it is caused by steam itself.

However, I recommend that you remove Compatibility Modes because they are useless. Same with Windows Security: Exploit Protection which is useless and restore the initial settings to protect your computer. 

Also use only one of these systems to enter boot programs

Remember to set Hardware rendering (DirectX Rendering) because the software rendering is faulty

The exception report suggests you have 2GB of memory - of which 1.1GB is free at the time of crash. Is this correct?

If so, its close to not enough memory in which to run SimCity + its data. 0C000005 is an addressing error and can happen for a very wide variety of reasons, including faulty data, so unfortunately is a bit like the oh so helpful "something went wrong somewhere" error report.

If you do indeed have this small a memory footprint its best to minimise total load by shutting down any programs (eg like a browser) you're not going to use while playing SC4 to give it the best chance of shoehorning itself in. Put  -intro:off  is in your startup parameters, and until you get it running - no extra plugins.

seeing the SC4 log would be very helpful - normally in the SC4/App exe folder, but I dont know where Steam puts it. Its named like MACHINENAME-config-log.txt

If you read in the post he is trying to run SC4 on Lenovo Legion Go which is a kind of handheld Gaming PC. So the RAM issue is not as this kind of PC has 16GB of RAM.

The thing that concerns me if the person has put in the Steam Patch and if he has corectly configured SC4

So I mentioned the SC4Launcher for Steam and no matter the options it would give the same crash report. I thought I'd try installing via GOG and the same results.

Did you apply the 4GB Patch Manually?

Did you force the use of the Dedicated GPU to SC4 and DgVoodoo2?

So the trick was to use dgvoodoo2 dlls without any further configuration. Dxwrapper never worked.
