Does anyone know where the phrase, broken heart, originated?

ANSWER:
from the Greek word meaning; bowels or inside the body(center of ones self). It was used to imply ones spirit. This is why when you hear a person say; You broke my heart. they are saying, you broke my spirit. Kind of puts it in better perspective, IMO.

Ironic that it's lard..

In gay slang, a twink(ie) is a really skinny, childish, often dumb gay guy. ie: He-Who-Prohibitted-Me-From-Saying-His-Name. Aaron Carter is also a good example.

That's a useless fact for you!2.gif

How is my post spam? This is for interesting and useless facts. If that's spam, then this topic must be spam, 'cause I'm writing interesting and useless facts. I thought spam was something completely off topic or less than two words or something like that.

BTW, here's another fact: There are no words that rhyme with orange.

O.K., I heard an interesting but useless fact not too long ago:

The phrase cold enought to freeze the balls off a brass monkey was originally a naval term.
Back when ships had cannons on the decks, they needed to keep the cannonballs close at hand. Obviously, being round, it was impossible to stack them on a deck without a little help. So, they would put a metal plate with indentations on it in which the bottom layer of cannonball could sit without rolling away. This plate was called a 'monkey'.
But if the monkey was made of iron, the salt water would lead to rust, which would then fuse the cannonballs in place. So, a brass monkey was used.
But in cold weather, brass would contract faster than iron, and when it contracted enough, the indentations would become too small to hold the cannonballs, and they would spill out onto the deck. In other words, it's cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey.
