Beaches Bug: Ugly Grid Lines

Beaches in my game appear with these grid lines, even when grid lines are off on the terrain. To troubleshoot, I've removed all terrain/beach/water mods from my plugins folder but the lines still appear (as seen in the screenshot below). Any ideas what is causing this? I've googled and can't find any documentation of this glitch. Thanks!

That looks like the Maxis beach, yes?

It's quite odd the grid lines appear in it. My first guess is something in plugins has edited the specific texture it uses and added a single pixel black border to it. Ofc, that would be quite odd if so. My second guess, which seems even less likely, is an edit to the Zones Manager exemplar.

As a new test, rename your Plugins to something else then start the game and go into a new, empty tile and test again. We need to know if the culprit is something in your plugins. Then, after exiting the game, you'll see it created a new empty Plugins folder. (Check to be certain.) Delete the new empty Plugins and then rename your original folder back to Plugins.

Given all the threads over problems with beach lots over the years, it surprises me when a new one pops up. I thought maybe it's a re-lot with an overlay texture that exposes seams. I have Maxis blockers installed, so it's been years since I've seen the original.

With assorted terrain and beach textures, pre-made beach lots are really obsolete problem children. They are basically a sand lot with a parking texture and assorted beach props and automata with a park effect added. With textures and assorted mmp's, you can make seamless, aesthetically-pleasing beaches and add a small park nearby for the effect. Assorted shore textures will give you many options as to size. You'll be much happier with the results. Trust me! *:D

Cori and Jack, thanks for your replies. The glitch appears with no mods installed (pure vanilla), with various overlay and beach textures, and also with ploppable beach lots. I should mention this problem was on my Mac. When I switched over to Windows on Boot Camp, the problem did not appear! So...I finally migrated my game completely over to Boot Camp. Until now I used it to install .exe mods and move them back to my Mac drive. There are so many glitches on Mac that aren't on Windows: HD terrain textures crash the game and parts of RealHighway appear white. The list probably goes on and on, as there are many other mods I've had to remove in the past because they were either glitchy or crashed the game. Anyway, I wanted to mention this as a possible solution to any other Mac users out there.

P.S. Cori, thank you for all your "Shoppes" and other contributions on the forums here. I've used your guides and guidance countless times!

Indeed this is a known Mac issue that affects all lots, for example the farm and country club clearly show the problem too:

In my experience many Mac users baulk at the idea of using Bootcamp, but in many ways it's the easiest solution and you are right to say the Mac version has far too many little issues that IMHO it's not worth bothering with if you are remotely serious about modding the game.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

This is one I didn't know about so I'm glad y'all figured out the cause. I'll try to remember this is one of the unfixable things for that OS.
