Making a river/sea in the region

Yes, I know it might sound pretty silly, but when I create a custom region I try to get the river flowing through that region, however it doesn't always go as planned. When I create a river, I just go into the city and start the river from there. Then I go to the neighboring cities and make the river run through them until the river flows through the entire region (it takes quite a long time). But sometimes the river looks a bit weird and in most cases the city boundaries where the river is located may just not be right.

Any tips on how to make it look better?

If using only in game tools, have you used the Reconcile Edges when you go to the next city tile? That can help. Also, try not to have a river that crosses more than two tile boundaries at the same time as that can cause quadrapoint troubles. What can happen is they never get completely, perfectly reconciled in all three or four and you might see one huge spike raised way up in the air in a couple of them.

Otherwise, making a grayscale image and then rendering in the game can make a much better map where everything lines up between tiles.

    I could do that. Thanks.

Ah yes, lining up a river with in-game water, I can understand the problem here.

I highly recommend downloading and installing software like the SC4Terraformer, it allows you to change several city tiles in one go, eliminating the problem this way. You can alter any city this way, even those already being on Mayor Mode. Its only issues are that you should always make a backup of your region in case you mess up somehow, and that you need to download additional files to make the SC4Terraformer run on Win10.

    Link to Terraformer: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=731

Also, please make sure to read this post by @matias93, it contains important info about which files to download and install in order to make SC4Terraformer run in the first place (you can just enter the filenames in Google, they will quickly show up and give you a download link):

My only other suggestion may be: You can drag a network, such as railway or elevated railway, at the points where your river shore begin, to the neighboring city, and then save. After that, in the neighboring city, the railway stubs will appear, clearly showing you where the river is supposed to begin.
