SPAM Paeng Addon Pack Vol01

Hello

I have these mods in my SPAM folder

I am not able to make the below appear from SPAM Paeng Addon Pack Vol01:

* Growable Farms (16 Variations)
---------------------------------------------------
   - Stage 2 3x3 Barn, Silo and Farmhouse (3 Variations)
   - Stage 3 4x3 Barn, Silo and GrainStorage (3 Variations)
   - Stage 4 4x4 Dairy Farm (3 Variations)
   - Stage 4 5x6 Small Cattle Ranch (3 Variations)
   - Stage 5 4x5 Medium GrainElevator (single)
   - Stage 5 4x6 Grain Storage Facility (3 Variations)


I have been trying to get Stage 4 5x6 Small Cattle Ranch (3 Variations) to show up by using CTRL and the Ag zone and making a 5x6 zone and just making regular 5x6 Ag zone but all that seems to show up are the farms from the original SPAM mode.

Is there something overriding the SPAM Paeng Addon Pack Vol01 or am I using the wrong zone?

I can not get the 4x4  Dairy Farm to show up either.

The rest of the mod is working.

Sadly I never tried SPAM or mostly any of the agricultural mods. I usually have been playing with really urban mostly central town/city style w2w packed cities. I did plan to make rural-ish cities in the future, but I don't have much experience with them so far. 

My best guess, that you don't have enough demand on those to grow, but I'm fairly uncertain about the mechanism. 

Maybe stupid question, but you are not using CAM, are you? CAM and SPAM are not compatible with each other.

    Whilst I do use SPAM and most of the official addons, I honestly never paid a whole lot attention to which farms did/didn't grow. What I can tell you from all the messing around I did to help Fantozzi with Farm Lots, is that the modding for them is pretty quirky, it's easy for them not to grow. That said, Paeng was part of the SPAM team and generally a decent modder, so I have to assume lest evidence exists, they probably do work.

    Why might these particular farms not be growing, well a number of them are high growth stage farms, 3, 4 and 5 and there is a limit placed on how many higher state buildings you can have and you need to hit certain milestones before any will grow.

    Here is a link to the Growth Stage information for the Vanilla game, sadly this isn't accurate here because SPAM adds additional Growth Stages (much like CAM, but only for farms). But it gives you a general sense hopefully of what I'm talking about here, if you read the information, you'll see until the regional number of farm jobs hits 2224, no Stage 3 farms can grow and even then only 1% of your farming capacity can be Stage 3.

    I don't know the exact changes made in SPAM, but a modified version of this will be in play and as you can imagine, before the Stage 4 and 5 farms appear, you are probably going to need a lot of I-AG capacity, but it is counted region-wide.

    The next thing to note is that SPAM also makes changes, so that educated sims will now work on Farms, even if other jobs which would usually be more attractive to them exist. Likely the Stage 4 and 5 farms will need a certain percentage of a certain EQ of sims to work, so if your workforce isn't all that educated, that might explain it. Farms, like any other lots, have other needs too like Power/Water/Clean Air, higher stages generally require more things and a nicer area than lower ones.

    It's easy to test a Stage 1 anything right out of the block, but if you've got a Stage 8 Res or Com building, you are never going to see them in an undeveloped region. In that sense there is some equivalency between the example and a Stage 5 IR building.

    I've dug out all the requisite values from the SPAM mod, so they are here now:

    Funny enough, it seems there are some placeholder crops that also don't yet grow (and likely never will, as with the demise of SimPeg, it's unlikely that Pegasus will ever update the mod further). These are mainly tree farms (i.e. Elms, Maples, Tupelos, etc.). The fact his content is now considered 'Legacy Content' and is no longer officially supported leads further credence to the extreme unlikelyhood of further updates. At least they're still available for us to use. That said, it would be nice if anyone were to get his permission to revive the project, however, that's just wishful thinking on my part.

    @Tyberius06 has full permission from Peg to do anything with the content. Ofc, I don't know if there are any plans with regard to SPAM.

    I don't know if there will be a complex revamp of the SPAM, I'm personally not an agricultural style player and have no idea what is missing or not fully implemented. 

    I guess if anyone wants to fill some gaps up while not corrupting the behaviour of the original mod (so creating some expansions/additions), that can be done and not even requires special permissions.

    Understandible. I for one love playing with SPAM and even sometimes in combination with the BSC Farms.

    As for modding, BATing and/or other technicalities, I am not one who could give any info on that as I have no knowledge of how to BAT (I'd love to learn, but I don't even know where to begin, and with no internet on my P.C. (I'm typing this on my cell using wifi), I don't even have access to Gmax right now, much less any other SC4 BAT compatible replacement for it.

    When Paeng left the community he passed his files onto me as a sort of caretaker, in turn I've given @Tyberius06  permission to do anything with Paeng's files that he thinks needs to be done re tweaks, etc

    NOTE: Paeng was quite clear tho that his work should always remain clearly identified as his  *:read:
