Hi all,

I'm close to buying sc4, but have several questions or concerns.    This is the first of those.   I love "good" stadium design.   In videos of sc4 I watched even in huge cities there are no football stadiums and the baseball stadium looks bad.   It's seems to be a an uninspired fusion of retro and contemporary design.  There are too many curves imo and the attention to detail is poor by sc4 standards.   Are there stadium add ons / mods (what's the correct term?). Please tell me yes and if yes how to access them.  Have a great day.    I will have about 6 more of these.

Corinna answered one already.  I was concerned that trees are always Kelly green and water always that strangely pale blue.  I found terrain mods linked in Corinna's thread.  Thank you.  I'm delighted with sandstone earth and the muddy waters and very dark blue waters (even though I don't have the game yet).

I don't recall if we mentioned it before, but make certain to stay away from the Origin version of the game. It is not patched and cannot be patched. GOG (most recommended) or Steam versions are perfectly fine. (If going with GOG, use their offline installer instead of the Galaxy thinger.)

For the answer you are seeking, I don't personally know, but yes "mods" in general works for the term. Then, technically, custom content buildings are more often referred to as BATs (because they are created with a Building Architect Tool).

You'll catch onto the lingo as time goes on.

It's unfortunate that all the table formats got borked over there.

What I've noticed though is that most custom content stadia are lotted as parks or landmarks, and aren't functional for lifting caps. It would be great to see if someone were to take the work of relotting them.

Thanks you two, and sorry Corina, for misspelling your name.  I see that many call you Cori.

There are many stadium BATs.  I even saw the San Siro from Italy.  This is encouraging.

No worries at all. As long as I can tell when I'm being referred to, it's fine.

And yes, I go by Cori IRL so you can call me that.

    Hi @Andrew0180

Looks like you're well on track here from the advice Cori, matias, and Jack have posted.

Thankfully custom content for SC4 is very extensive, so you'll find there's many items which can add variety and entirely new themed things too. As of typing, there are currently 26,833 files between the STEX and LEX combined, and so the library of BATs, lots, and mods is incredibly vast in scope. The great thing too is only a small portion are needed to enjoy the game. In this sense it all depends on your city building interests for whatever is worth developing.

There is so much potential. *:8)

You're most welcome to post inside new topics for any other questions you have. Or even it could be consolidated for all questions into one topic of your choosing. There have been a few members who've opted for this approach, by where it becomes a catch-all for asking anything.

(The multi-page topic here from @That Retro Guy comes to mind off the top of my head, which has lots of useful info inside from many posters.)

There's also the CFI thread which is a useful place to ask if looking for particular items, like any certain content you've seen in posted pictures.

It's totally up to you. *;)

Also adding to what Cori said for:

The post I made here shows how to obtain the standalone installer. Once purchasing the game from GOG it should allow this in one's game's library. This lets SC4 be downloaded as an installer file, instead of the Galaxy client which is apparently like a games manager hub and not needed.

GOG do run seasonal sales and the occasional spot-sale too, so it might be worth checking when they have the game at the 75% off to get the best deal.

You'd be surprised, there's numerous excellent stadiums and some sports arenas available as custom content. I suggest you visit thhe Sports Arenas and Stadiums showcase thread to find some examples. I'm linking to one of my posts there, hopefully you'll find some options to suit your cities.

Once you find something of your liking, let us know and we'll link the corresponding files.

There quite a bit of a variety of stadiums but have to do some deep searching.   These are some I use
