I originally posted in the Quick Question forum, but looks like this might not be a quick question...so moving here.

I have a weird case, and don't know what is causing it.  Me an issue with water pollution bleeding through and being visible, but I don't know what it is or how to fix it.  As you can see in this picture I have some weird brown crap flooding my poor sims.

Here is the same spot with air pollution data view.  As you can see, the air is clean...

Now what is interesting, this brown crap isn't everywhere where there is water pollution. Just seems to be up in this little area.  Also it is only visible at higher zoom levels.  Here it is at zoom 1.  As you can see, the brown stuff is only in the north area there.  Not by all farms.

Zoom 5 it starts to disappear when I start moving the screen around.  Zoom 6 and up it is all gone

So any fix for it short of turning clouds on low

Edit - I don't think it is the clouds shadow.  I turned clouds off, and the other shadows are gone from the clouds, but the poo remains...

5 clouds, 5 splootches. There are a few smaller dark spots. I don't know if you built over another city and it's residue pollution. There are a plethora of water and air pollution controllers(and killers) that will get rid of that.

BTW, turn your shadows on low while you play. I only turn them on when taking pics.

So, clouds off shadows low, the poo poo remains.  This is a new region/new city...not built over anything.  Everything shown is fresh from nature and first placement...I have no clue...guess I will just avoid that area until the sims realize Taco Bell isn't good for em...

I think it simply is an overlay the game uses as a visual way of highlighting a pollution problem. Those houses which are watered are not getting clean water to the point that it’s a health hazard. The in-game farms do tend to pollute water and you’ll either need a buffer between the farms and residential zones or to do something about the pollution, i.e. a water treatment plant.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.
