How to place diagonal tram pieces?

I downloaded NAM and I was putting trams down, but I am really confused on how to place the diagnol pieces. Specially with avenues they don't really seem to properly fit over the road tiles at all and the game won't let me place them seperately either. Maybe I am just dumb but if there is a proper way to do it or some video I can watch it would be very helpful.

Diagonal Tram in Avenue pieces can be a bit difficult to get to grips with, but they are nothing compared to the stations!

I don't overplop them myself, I just checked and whether road or avenue, those networks being present block the TiA pieces. Bear in mind a lot of these pieces require really flat land, you might need to make some terrain preparation first. Then it's just a case of place as many pieces as you can, before filling the gaps using the two special filler pieces, found at the beginning of the diagonal TiA pieces in the Tab-Ring.

One difficulty is how unstable these things can be, deleting a tile can have an effect over a wide area sometimes. So the key is to plan where your diagonal TiA network will go, get the stations (if any) in place first, then junctions and lastly fill in with a combination of diagonal sections and fillers as required.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

For those unaware, the Tram-in-Avenue has a different geometry to plain avenue. Since the tool to drag the avenue is a square, diagonals have the shared median tile, in which all 4 lanes run diagonally on the center. Tram-in-Avenue adds two GLR tracks, so it's gonna get awfully crowded in there. To address this, TiA was designed to use split-tile medians, such that GLR would operate at the center and the car lanes on the sides.
