Phishing Warning Regarding Facebook

There is some phishing that is quite popular on Facebook right now. If you receive a friends request from someone already your friend, check to see if they did not drop you. If you are still their friend, you know it's a scam profile. Another sign, is the profile will have no friends or only a few. You can alert Facebook about this. The way it works is it's not a hack necessarily, but what they want is to finally get someone who will fall for a "friend" asking for private information, such as a phone number, address, or even credit card number. The scam works eventually, of course. Just be careful. Let your friend know, too, so you can both report it.

Yes, I think it was a good idea to get rid of it once we saw Zuckerburg smoking his meats. Actually, I got rid of it, then got it back. I even caught a post removed by the Olympics people--whoever they are--for posting a clip of some women playing rugby. Fair enough...copyrighted. I just said what's better than a bunch of women tackling and wrestling with each other? My fatal mistake was likely saying what I was watching.

I got "friended" by someone who promptly asked me if I had got my prize from Publishers' Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. He said he saw my name on the list, and I should claim it from a Facebook page earing the name of the woman who gives it out. I then got a message from her saying that I was indeed about to get my money, but I first had to fill out a form on Facebook that included such minor details as my birthdate, Social Security Number, and checking account routing number.

I treated them to some choice obscenities, reported both accounts to management, and blocked them.
