Evening everyone.

So, I installed the IRM last night and I'm just playing around with it (checking dependencies etc) and I noticed that only "Farley's Foundry" and "MPR Metals" are growing.  I'm 99.9% certain that these two are not the only two I-D's in the game or at some point in my absence from SC4 did these two buy out the others *;)??

Hello mangojuice,

it happens sometimes with some Lots. Not only by using the IRM Mod. Whats happens, if you are "Bulldosing" one of those Lots? Shows up the same one, or a different one?

Greetings, Oliver

@City_Slider I spent some time last night just bulldozing the lots and the same ones kept reappearing, even today I started a new tile to learn about NAM and the same two I-D's are appearing and nothing else.  How many I-D's are available ingame?  I have no idea why I'm only getting two variants growing...

I've just checked my medium tile which I was using to understand the basics and the tile is approx 50% I-D and ALL of them are "MPR Metals" (No IRM)...

Very early on, you should also get some Dao Chemicals. They can grow on a 3 x 3 footprint for sure and maybe a 3 x 2.

Yes, providing you are getting a few of the Dao's as well. Once your city is growing stage 2 and stage 3 industrials there will be more variety. Also, whether you've zoned medium density or high density and with or without water all influence what can grow.

You can peek at the SimCity 4 Building Index to see what's available. (The linky is to the main index. Click on Industrial and Stage 1 to limit it for the early game buildings, but note that will include ID, IM, and IHT so you have to watch for that when clicking the pictures in the list.)

Whilst IRM does make a number of changes to the lotting, I would agree this looks very much like you only have demand for Stage 1 Industrial right now, which is normal when starting out. In order to have Stage 2 industrial, you must have a minimum amount of Stage 1 first. These growth stages govern what percentage of larger or higher density buildings, for each zoning type can grow.

Just like any houses you build early in the game, they start small and tend to upgrade to larger buildings, Ind and Com are no different in this regard. If you bulldoze things and force them to re-grow, there is a penalty in terms of desirability to build there. Imagine if every time businesses set up shop, the mayor came and closed them down, it would seriously put off any other business considering using that location.

Note that the base game will grow all three Industrial types, I-D, I-M and I-HT in either Medium or High density, but IRM alters this. You should zone Medium density where you want I-D/I-M or High density where you want I-M/I-HT.
