Everything is pixelated since upgrade

Since upgrading to Big Sur and installing the 64-bit version from the app store, I get terrible pixelation on the region screens, and when I close a city that's been played at a resolution higher than the default of 1600 x 900 (?) I get a weird line on the region map... the higher the resolution, the bigger the line.  Is there a setting that I'm just missing?

ok.  changing the resolution in the game to the highest possible option fixed the pixelation problem... but now the screen is filled with ugly lines in the region that take up nearly 25% of the city square...

The ugly line part in the region view is a bug in all versions of SC4. The only known solution is to set the screen resolution so the vertical is less than 1200 pixels and then save the city tile.

I suspect you probably can't solve the region-view "screenshot" problem where parts are cut off, since it's always been a general game-issue for Windows users, which is what the Mac version is based on. The workaround of course is play the game in a lower resolution, but I wouldn't do that...

You should ideally be running SC4 using the native resolution of your display. Whilst lower resolutions may work, in all the time I've been using computers, I've never known a display that looks good when not displaying their full resolution. Which is why increasing it has solved the pixelation issues, which would otherwise be there the whole time you are playing SC4. As such, would you compromise the display quality during play, just to make the region-view look better?, I know I wouldn't.
