Will there be a real SC5?

Hi there,

im playing SC since the Amiga Version. SimCity never dies

But i cant understand, why they wont be able to set up SC5? It would be a Hit.

They tried. Twice.

SimCity Societies and SimCity (2013). Both were arguably garbage, which is why Cities XL & whatnot took off. And why we're all still playing SC4.

First sentence - agree. It never dies. 

Second sentence - it would not and they have no chance in succeeding. With the way "Cities: Skylines" dominated the market, it is not realistic to expect Maxis can outperform them.

Especially when you consider the kind of developer Maxis has allied itself with. I get the impression that this is true of any game franchise - good developer, being at the mercy of a s###y publisher. Just look at how "Take Two" (or "Fake Poo" as the gaming community prefers to call them) has ruined GTA V. Sadly, dev companies usually don't have enough power or funds to sell their games on their own.
