I'll be starting a new city soon and I would like to use a Snowfall map. As much as I like the additional challenge of snow and heat management in these maps, there's one key aspect that bothers me to no end:

Everything is so WHITE!!

cities-skylines-snowfall-buy-cdkey-5.jpg

Cities Skylines is a very colourful game, and it's so depressing to see your cities have the same homogenous shade of white. I don't mind the snow on the ground, but what I really want is to remove the snow from buildings (and preferably vehicles) so that they're easier to identify. I don't want every structure to look like a white block from above or I'll never distinguish them. I tried playing around with the theme editor, and it seems that the 'white' grass texture is applied to rooftops and vehicles no matter what colour you use. I don't know what the solution is.

Is there a mod or map theme that removes snow from buildings? That would solve everything. Thank you.

Nope ! The snowfall themes apply the "grass" texture over everything. The best you can do is to make a winter theme that has a more transparent "grass" texture.

Doesn't work. I tried replacing the white grass texture with a transparent PNG image and this is the result:

    snowbad.jpg.34d432299daee566c573acad7340d4f0.jpg

The snow is still on the buildings, and now there's this weird rayed pattern on the ground. Also, the rooftop snow is replaced with a dark grey colour if you zoom out far. Basically this is not a solution.

I don't think my request is impossible. You can see on this page that a player managed to remove snow from a building while applying a script to a custom asset:

    snow_base.jpg

I just need to know if there's a way to apply this script to every building in the game. But I'm no modder so I don't know how this can be done. Suggestions?

Hmm don't know why the PNG didn't work for everything (but it did work for the cars,  asphalt, sidewalks light poles, and props.) I'll take a look at the editor to see what changed as for mass scripting I don't know about C# and I think you'll have to make a custom asset for everything you want to be 'snowless' however you might want to take a look at different snowfall themes in the workshop because the one that comes with SF is BAD I also recommend you get theme mixer 2 as well  themes that has custom light-mapping (don't know what are the ones that have it on the top of my head :() to add more color to your city at night.

I am using the Väterchen Frost theme for Snowfall, but I still get the snowy rooftops like every other custom theme. You said that you investigate the matter in the editor. Any results?

Another follow-up two weeks later. Have you tried removing snow with transparent PNG's in the editor?

Sorry that I took so long I've got so me results and I was wrong its not only the grass texture but also the cliff texture that gets overlaid over everything anyways here are the result: snowshow2.JPG.2dce3a1cbbe91bdc366f04c7fe7848d3.JPGsnowshow1.JPG.bd6ae617ea7b63b4eda97bd1cb717073.JPG

    But there are some drawbacks:snowshow3.JPG.396ef0d6c6cb3bdd4be9791d3442b006.JPG

and here's the png I used:

    testp.png.6bc567a633e8cf880ceb48f18f0e3e00.png

    And the theme itself: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2398115492

And again sorry it took so long.
