Buildings not in game menus

I have downloaded some buildings that both plopable and growth, but the plopable ones are not showing up in the landmark menu like the creators say they should. Is there a limit to the menus in SimCity 4 is why they are not there? I have them in my plugins folder.

Afaik, there's no limit to how many items can be in a menu.

Two things come to mind for why they might not be in the Landmarks menu. First, it could be they copied a description from their other work, edited just the parts that are different, and then forgot to list the real menu these lots are in. It could be they are in Parks or somewhere else. The other thing it could be, but I'm not so sure on this, is if they are set up to use a Menu Management Lot (MML) and without plopping the trigger lot, the others won't show up.

If you can provide a linky to the file in question and let us know at least one building which cannot be found we can take a peek via Reader and see where it's supposed to show up and/or if an MML is at play.

To really help you, we're going to need some specific examples as Corina mentioned. Then we can see if there is some problem with the download or if there is another explanation.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Fire has a limit. Rewards and seaports too. If you use the "Show all Maxis lots" cheat, Landmarks will start kicking things out. Some creators never have their stuff in menus, you'll gradually get to know who they are. Of course, it's all still in the messes known as Lot and Building Editor. If you can remember who made what, that is.

Ah! That then brings up a third possibility how something could be set up properly and yet still not show in the menu. (I have a very limited set of CC so this hasn't occurred for me.)

    This is 100% correct.

The menus can have unlimited items. Even if scrolling becomes a pain, they are there.

My plugins file is huge - see attached - this dat-packed version is what I use to test that my buildings work, and grow, prior to release. I have made dozens of landmarks, rewards, fire, police, schools etc and these are mixed in with dozens of other creators, and never, ever have I seen items disappear from the menu because of the number of said items in that menu.

I have seen items with incorrectly made icons that appear to cause other buildings around it to show up out of order, or blank in the menu, but that isn't due to numbers of plugins.

Also, if using cheat codes (non-standard) to access the menus, I would simply recommend the 'buildingplop' code. All buildings descriptors appear and the menu remembers your previous position the next time you open the cheat code. Note: I have used the term 'descriptors' if you don't have the corresponding lot in your plugins (IE you have downloaded a mega pack as a dependency but not all of the associated lots) it may appear from that menu that you have lost items, but the lot file was never in your plugins to begin with.

EDIT: The only limit to file numbers is due to a bug in MAC Aspyr, which applies to all plugins files (not just ploppable from the menus), but apparently even that has a fix (I am not a Mac user, so can't confirm or deny)
