After installing NAM 37, the game does not load.

At first, everything seems to be alright, but during the process of loading, all of a sudden the game crashes.

I`m using a SimCity Deluxe purchased a long time ago from Steam.

Additionally to that, it seems I'm complying with all the requirements to a successful installation, but unfortunately, the game is not running.

Some details:

  • Windows 10, version later than 1.1.638
  • JRE installed
  • Read all the "readme", but found not a hint about what could causing such trouble.

Probably I'm making some mistake, but until now, I didn't identify it.

Is there an exception or error report that you could upload also? If the game crashes, one is usually generated somewhere. Check the Install directory.

Also, at what point in the loading process does the crash happen?

I didn´t found any error report. The crashing happens during the process of loading a city ( any city ... I tried to load several of them, in different regions, in order to check if the problem was related to a specific one, but to no avail: the crash happens regardless of the of the size /  region ).

Several of them, from Simtropolis and SC4 Devotion. Please, do note that during the installation process, I deleted all the files the installer pointed as in conflict with the NAM.

Additionally, if I unistall NAM 37, the game runs smoothly.

I'd possibly try a re-install of the NAM at this point. The situation you have descibed definitley doesn't fit with what should be happening, it almost sounds like NAM missed or messed up one of its own files.

Did you delete any ports (e.g. PEG Ports)? Airport shuttles?

Deleting mods is a prime way to screw up an existing city so it crashes when opening.

Can you open a new city in a new region?

Actually, I didn´t deleted ports and / or airports, for sure ! The deleted items were related to a few landmarks.

Additionally, I´ve been trying to load new cities, in order to avoid any kind of conflict with the NAM 37 that could happen if I loaded an existing city.

I´ve also tried to open new cities in new regions, to no avail.  :(

If you started having troubles after installing NAM 37, then the most likely cause is simply that you’ve forgotten to or incorrectly ran the 4GB patch. The larger controller it uses absolutely requires this patch (not actually part of NAM, but generic for any App), otherwise it’s highly likely SC4 will run out of RAM. In this scenario, you will get a CTD. Bear in mind your Windows logon may need special permissions (admin rights), to work correctly. If this sounds like your problem, check out this YouTube video, which explains in-depth how to make everything work:

Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.
