Hi, totally new to SC4 . I’ve done a bit of research and the industry doubler seems pretty ace. However I’m not having any luck in implementing the file into the SC4 file. It’s there, but it’s not actually changing anything. Can anyone offer some advice on this please?

many thanks

Hi @Salopty and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

While I don't use the Industry Doubler or the Industry Quadrupler myself (although I might do for one or the other at some stage),
I've checked the contents of the jobs-doubler1.zip archive to see what the options are for installation.

Checking the ReadMe text file it says:

Quote

To Install:
Unzip the files and place into your Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder.
There are four .dat files you can use.

dirty-doubler.dat  - Doubles jobs for dirty industry.
farm-doubler.dat  - Doubles jobs for farms.
hitech-doubler.dat  - Doubles jobs for high tech industry.
manufacturing-doubler.dat  - Doubles jobs for manufacturing industry.

dirty-doubler_includingPollution.dat  - Same as above, but also doubles pollution.
farm-doubler_includingPollution.dat  - Same as above, but also doubles pollution.
hitech-doubler_includingPollution.dat  - Same as above, but also doubles pollution.
manufacturing-doubler_includingPollution.dat  - Same as above, but also doubles pollution.

Install the appropriate four files if you wish to double all the jobs.

I've respectively coloured them blue and yellow to make it clearer. So it needs copying all 4 of each colour into one's Plugins folder, depending if wanting pollution or not. It's also possible to copy selected ones as desired, such as only for dirty industry and leaving farms, manufacturing, and high tech the Maxis default. I suggest creating an "Industry Doubler" folder in your Plugins so they're all contained in the same location. This isn't required, but just would make them easier to find later on.

See the insightful post @CorinaMarie made here for details on how the difference compares from regional jobs. This confirms how the jobs are updated in existing tiles, without the need to rebuild industry which is grown already. Also scrolling up in that thread, there's a pic for showing the difference of jobs when using the Quadrupler mod.

Something to mention is how this doesn't apply to custom industrial lots, since the overrides here are only for the Maxis originals.

Hope this helps!

Ah nice one man. Not played this since I was a kid and now seems the perfect time to get into it. However my memory or correct zoning , traffic etc has gone to pot. Still, such an enjoyable game- despite my various sackings so far. Trial and error is the way forward!
