Brown boxes on SM2 Intermodal Terminal - missing dependency?

I've got a bit of a problem with SM2's excellent Intermodal Terminal. Despite the fact that I've downloaded and installed all of the listed dependencies, I'm getting three brown boxes in the upper right corner of the S3 piece (See attached picture). Thinking that I may have missed one of the dependencies, I downloaded and installed them all a second time, but still got the same problem.

Has anyone had the same issue, or have any idea what plug-in I may be missing?

Hello @lather30

It looks like you are definitively missing something. (I think its the rail bumpers)

I made that lot a few years ago therefore I will have to check my list in order to be certain. I'm still at work however when I get home I will check for you and give you a solution either tonight or tomorrow..

    @lather30

It seems you may have somehow installed SM2 Intermodal Terminal v1.

I fixed this issue back in 2016 by re-uploading version 2. The zip name should be SM2 Intermodal Terminal v2

If you have v2 installed and you are getting this issue then I suggest you install the following mod by PEG and then retake a pic.

The mod replaces the brown boxes with small colored flags which allows to see the area in question without being hidden by those ugly boxes.

Let me know how it goes. One way or another I will make it work for you.

It's definitely v2 that I installed, as the zip file shows as v2.

I used the suggested mod, and it does look like the bumpers (see picture below). On SC4D, someone reported a similar issue with S2, and you said that they were missing  BSC Mega Props jestarr Vol02. Just on the off-chance it was a similar issue, I double checked and I do have that installed.

I've read a few bits elsewhere where people reported the same issue, and the comment was made by some that the bumpers are part of the NAM, so the solution was to install NAM (which I already have). If true, that got me thinking about a possible cause. As I'm fairly new to SC4, the only version of the NAM that I've ever downloaded is the current v36. Even v2 of the Intermodal Terminal predates the release of NAM v36, so if the bumpers are indeed part of NAM, is it possible that they were in an earlier version, but not in v36 for some reason? Most people would have the earlier version of NAM and just install v36 over the top of it, so they'd have the bumpers there from the earlier version and wouldn't have any problem. However, any newbies who went straight to v36 wouldn't have the bumpers from the previous version and would get the boxes. Does that make any sense?

    Hi

You are the first with this issue since I released v2.

In order to avoid the problem associated with the NAM bumpers, I replaced them with the Maxis original and since you must have the game installed in order to play, the bumpers will show up no matter what you have in the Plugin folder. As a test, I dropped the zip content in a clean plugin (no mods, prop packs and no NAM) I then opened it with X-pim and sure enough only those bumpers appeared as they should have.

Now I'm curious. Send me a PM with a link to your version of the zip. I will analyze it with my rig to see why is this occurring only to you.

Use a Drop Box or a similar file sharing app and then send me a link please.

    Simmer2

PS If I have to, I will tailor the lot by replacing them with others I made.

For some reason, I'm not able to send you a PM - I click on the link to do it, but all I get is a pop-up message saying "an error occurred accessing the requested page or resource".

These Props are from the original RRW Release and in order to prevent such conflicts/issues it's a standard policy of NAM to avoid where possible altering IDs or removing content. It might also be worth mentioning how if content came from an older release, but was no longer included, the NAM 36 installer would have removed it for everyone when upgrading.

Inside the z___NAM/y_RealRailway folder should be the following files:

    • RealRailway_Prop_Models.dat
    • RealRailway_Props_EU.dat or RealRailway_Props_US.dat

Do you have the required files from the NAM 36 install? There are some issues with NAM 36's installer that have necessitated a new one for NAM 37. It's possible that something that should have been installed wasn't.

OK, I've just checked, and there is no y_RealRailway sub-folder in the z__NAM folder.

    Hi!

Hm... It's interesting I have all over EU set-ups, but those bumpers are appearing properly on my lots. I've been using that lot since it came out under several different NAM versions. The bumpers are working and showing up properly even under NAM v37 Alpha 05 (test version only), which is remarkable considering everything... So I think the problem is rather with your NAM, probably what Robin/MGB suggested above...

    @lather30

Yepp, with NAM 36 the default set-up is still the maxis rail and you need to choose the RRW (Real-Railway) when you install the mod. Most of us using the NAM with RRW (specially @Simmer2 who made all his rail related lots and mods dedicated to expand the possibilities with RRW), and with NAM 37 the default setting will be the RRW when you install the mod.

@Tyberius06 and @rsc204  Please re-read my replies.^^^ I replaced the zip 22 days after initial release (released in 3/18/16 updated 4/10/16)

As I said above, once I was notified of the issue back in 2016 I remade the S3 lot and re-uploaded it.

I replaced the bumpers that needed the NAM with the original RR2x2x2_WheelStop_0x2a6a0000 Maxis one. Those can only be overwritten if the NAM RRW is installed anyways so my S3 lot will work with or without the NAM.

For some strange reason both here and over at the LEX, the zips contained the original 3/18/16 release lots and not the ones I updated in 4/10/16

    Thanks for helping.

    I have now re-uploaded version 3.

On SM2_ITM_Lots.dat you can still see the 4/10/16 time stamp on it. That is the corrected one. The only thing I can think may have happened is that when I updated all my lots back in Aug 2018 I may have inadvertently included the original 3/18/16 lots.

@lather30 Please try the version linked below and let me know. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
