Zone View Messed up with NAM 36

I recently got a new computer and installed the GOG version of SimCity 4 Deluxe.  I installed NAM36 and then transferred the rest of my plugins and regions to the new computer.  On my old computer, when I would go to zone view, everything would disappear except for roads and zones.  This made it very easy to get the 'lay of the land' and plan out my future zones.  On the new installation, when I go to zone view only buildings disappear and props and tress are left.  This makes it very difficult to see the land and plan out my zones since the trees are still covering the land.

So I did a test and removed all my plugins.  I verified that with everything gone, the zone view was working properly.  Next I, moved the NAM folder into the plugin folder.  With the NAM folder in the plugins, the zone view was not working properly.  I narrowed it down to the 'NetworkAddonMod_Zone_Data_View.dat' file that is causing the issue.

My question is, can I remove the Zone Data file from the NAM install and still have NAM work properly?  I would like to remove the file so I can get the Zone View to work the way I want it to work.  Better yet, can somebody fix the Zone Data file so it doesn't screw up the Zone view?

Removing this file, which I believe is an optional part of the NAM installer, won't cause any harm, it would just revert to the original Maxis settings once more.

If however you wanted some sort of hybrid between the original settings and those in the NAM, you're going to need to modify the exemplar. Comparing that with the original SC4 one, it's not abundantly clear which properties might need to be altered. Since the NAM one removes some properties Maxis used, along with adding new ones not previously used too. Others simply have modified values.

If I had to guess, I'd start by looking at the property DataView: Type filter - which has been reduced in the NAM version from 13 to 10 reps (entries). It might be that restoring the other 3 reps would filter out those objects that you are now seeing, but don't want. I don't really have the time to be testing such modifications right now, but have attached such a modified DAT here. A very brief test suggests this might be exactly what you are after.

Well, this is exciting.  I'd noticed this behavior immediately after installing NAM back in 2015, but had no idea it was safe to remove.... and it *is* safe, right.?

(Because I've already removed it :P )

Thanks rsc204 for the tips.  I will try your modified Zone Data View file and see if that helps.

    Edit:

@rsc204 I installed your modified file and it works.  Zone view now only leaves the roads and zones visible.  You're a genius!!  Thanks for your help.

Look inside the folder Network Addon Mod\5DataView Options, here you will find this file. Simply replace the one there with the downloaded one. Should you want to undo the change, switch the files back.

The particular modification is stand-alone, which means you can safely switch it around, because it doesn't interact with other parts of the mod.
