I'm just curious, what order are the custom landmarks arranged in the bin/menu on the game?

I have Tons of custom land marks installed and i never know what order they're arranged in! i have to scroll through everything twice sometimes to find the one i want.

is there a simpler way to find them? or a mod or something i can use to organize them? please help?

In each building exemplar there is a property called Item Order:

By going thru all your custom content and adjusting that value you can organize them in whatever sequence you would like to see them in the menu. There's some rules for how they sort if the Order number is the same. I'm not certain of this part, but I believe it's then alphabetical for the same Order number and if the same name too then it goes by cost to plop. (Or something like that.)

@Duco is one of our many experts on organizing menus and who created the Menu Dividers which you can insert between groups of icons by setting their Order number appropriately. They help to visually see when you get to a new group when scrolling.

No, you can do it with iLive's Reader, as @CorinaMarie had shown in the pic above.
A very stable version I use you can find it here:

Kind regards!

Also, see The Reader, Beginners Guide and How to Organize Your In-Game Menus.

I did find the info on the sub order I was guessing at in my post above:

The hierarchical order of properties that determine menu icon positions are:

  1. Item Order property
  2. Lot Size
  3. Item Cost

The menu positions for lots that have identical values for all three of those properties might be determined by the lot or building exemplar ID, which is generated randomly when the exemplar is first created.

and what file to do i open up

Unfortunately there isn't one single answer to this. :O

It's going to depend on how the lot was modded and packaged. Check inside files ending with .sc4desc, .sc4lot, and simply .dat. And to complicate things some of them won't even have the Item Order property, but you can right click in the right hand pane and add it yourself. You will be looking for Exemplar Type where the value is Buildings. (See the second line in the right hand pane in my above screenshot.)

I honestly created all my mods myself by following this tutorial:

Cool. I watched that and it makes it look easy. *:)

What I also noticed is at 4:25 to 5:22 is the Item Order isn't one of the options (which is why you'll need to use Reader to organize those). *;)

Ok, but which of the values under "item order" should I change?

UPDATE: I figured it out now :D hahaha thank you :D :D :D

Actually it can be done with the SC4 Plugin Manager. You have to go into the 'common' tab when you do it, as pictured here :)

Nice. That's good to know and will be useful for peeps who Google up this page.

(My first modding started in Reader so I haven't looked into other tools which might do the same job.)
