SC4 not launching after NAM installation

After finally getting NAM to download, I launched the game to see if it worked. Turns out, I couldn't even get past the trailers, because the very moment the game launched, the application just stopped responding. I am currently on High Sierra V10.13.6. I'm also currently using a MacBook Air (13 inch, Early 2015).

The NAM mod shouldn't change anything in terms of your installation data. As with all SC4 mods, it simply adds new files into the Plugins folder which the game should load. Therefore, the first step is to go to this folder and remove the NAM install folders, Network Addon Mod & z___NAM. If you put them somewhere temporarily outside of Plugins, SC4 will not load them when running. You need to check if this resolves the problem.

It could be that you've hit the limit for the number of files (plugins) the Mac version of SC4 is able to load. That limit is pretty low in the grand scheme of things and the NAM contains a lot of files. If that is the case, the best solution would be for you to use JDatPacker to DatPack the NAM install. This will condense the install into a handful of files and is generally recommended for all Mac users.

Thank you for the response! I have deleted everything and the game seems to be starting again with no sign of damage to the original game files, so I guess that's good. But now I'm kind of wary of downloading NAM again for fear of the same thing happening, as it took me awhile too to get the Mac version of NAM up and running (using custom install instead of the standard option). Do you think I should still installing again?

Since NAM offers so many improvements to the game, I feel it's worth figuring out how to get it working.

I presume you can back up your folders beforehand so that you'd have those handy in case of any difficulties. I'm not a Mac user so you'll have to judge for yourself what you are willing to try. There is this post by @InfiniteCities which has some step by step instructions. I cannot say if they are good or bad, but @skyjuice was happy saying thank you and @mon4lis4 joined ST specifically to say the steps worked well for them.

Maybe those steps in combination with the JDatPacker @rsc204 mentioned might be the way to go?

Okay so I redownloaded NAM, this time it went past the trailers and landing page but now I still can't play the game because its not responding. This is so frustrating because I know how much better the game would be with NAM as I had a Windows computer with the game with NAM, but now I can't even get it to work in my Macbook

If the only factor here is that with the NAM files, the game fails to start, that doesn't mean there is something wrong within the NAM files. Far more likely, you've either hit the file limit I previously alluded to, or otherwise your computer simply doesn't have the necessary free resources to handle the extra load of the NAM mod.

So far as I can tell from your information, the actually install process seems to have worked properly. But even in the event it did not, nothing in there should prevent the game starting. Simply not all the files/components you wanted would end up installed/working. If there were problems so inherent in the NAM install itself, that it prevented the Mac version from starting, you can be sure we'd have heard from other users with this problem. In that sense, there really isn't a lot more I can suggest regarding solutions at this point.
