Simtropolis search function

Several times i´ve tried now to use this function on the forum and no matter what i search for or how many words i include to find what i´m looking for i come up with an empty result.

Just now i wanted to see if there´s a water treatment plant that doesnt have the ludicrous low working staff of 2 persons only.

I plopped that down and was FURIOUS to see, well, a little annoyed with that at least. So if anyone can just give me a link or better explain how to use this search for results to show i would appreciate it.

Unfortunately, the site's search function is very literal minded and has been pretty much useless for a long time.  The result of this is that unless you know exactly what you're looking for, you'll get zero results.  The common wisdom is to use google search instead.  Use the syntax:  yoursearchterm site:http://community.simtropolis.com/files and you should get some hits.

This has been an issue for a while, and as we've said before it's far from acceptable. One would expect the local search of a site to be the most reliable, but as @twalsh102 explained, oftentimes a targeted Google search is the best method for locating specific posted content, especially forum topics and STEX files.

As mentioned there, we hope to someday implement an improved search method once upgrading the board software. This has taken much longer than originally anticipated. The addition of a custom Google search bar is certainly viable onto the top, allowing the same manual filtering to be done directly. Not everyone browsing the site would be aware of the "site:" parameter on Google, and so it would be useful now and also thinking ahead to complement improvements to the local search engine.
