    Can't get the screen shot to download,but when I click on the SimCity icon on desktop the window looks the same as what cyclone boom posted earlier in this thread buth it only has 1 row of tabs along the top ,with 3 options security,general  and details,does not give the shortcut,compatability or previous version options

    I'm guessing, but it sounds like that might the the program itself there? If you right-click on it can you select Send to then Desktop (create shortcut)? And if so, then check the properties of the new icon and see if it has all the tabs.

    As CB said here:

    To help with game stability on modern systems, there is one useful tip by using the -CPUcount:1 command line parameter. This sets the game to use a single processor core, and seeing as SC4 was originally designed for older CPUs, this can prevent needless crashes from occurring.

    This can be done by opening your shortcut properties, and adding it at the end of the "Target" line.

    As follows:

    SC4 Target Shortcut CPUcount.png

    Then just remember to start SC4 each time using this, and it'll ensure the command is applied.

    Which means you only need to edit that in one time and Apply it then click OK. After that, always use that particular icon to start the game.

    Well after nearly 3 weeks of sorting mods and snags,I finally got to actully playing last night building farmland town (really like the spam mod).just a few minor things now which ime sure I can sort.Only real problem I had was I could not instal CAM,said a .dll file was missing so it could not open.Pity really wanted that so I went for Spam and industrial revolutions instead,seeing as you cant have CAM and spam or IR it seems...thanks again for the friendly advice

    Sounds like the datpacker failed to inject the I-HT fix into DAT1. The I-HT fix is something you will want eventually (otherwise high-tech won't offer jobs), so you'll need to revisit this problem in the future, download the DLL, and datpack the fix.

    It has been written about several times around here, so you can Google it when you get to zoning IRM's clean (was heavy) industry.

    @Lamude

    There is a finalizing the CAM installation guide which might have some helpful info. (It's written for Win 10, but prolly applies to other OS's too.)

    OK been building up a region,going slow so ime a little short of 200,000 sims.The park,hedge mods where easy,the waterfront dock mods took a little longer mostly figuring how they fit in the landscape,leveling and all that,but got a pretry good attempt at an industrial port now.It's still the NAM transportation pieces that are still giving me a headache lol other than just putting in curves and roundabouts.Think ille look up a tutorial. Does everyone still use the original highways or is there a better option like the multi Lane avenues and roads in NAM

    The community is split on highways. Some love tinkering all day on a single interchange, so they use real highway (RHW). The rest of us want plop-and-continue interchanges, so we are stuck in the stone age using Maxis highways (MHW) and some custom interchanges that were created for them long ago. NAM has a texture override for MHW called MHO, but I think it's purely cosmetic.

    The good news is that within the next five years or so, a future NAM version will introduce ploppable pre-fab interchanges. Then we Neanderthals can discover fire and move out of our caves.

    OK thanks,will just use the standard version,would be a nightmare for me to try and work out how to make an interchange atm,will wait for the plopable ones,played SimCity a lot years ago but the mods imp[rove it no end but there is quite a leaning curve to go with it

    I use the Maxis Highway Override, and absolutely love it. It is more than cosmetic, it makes the Maxis Highway much more realistic. There are new ramps / transitions and it interacts with the RHW selectively, for example with the MIS. There are also some roundabout interchanges that I really like. It's perfect for someone like me that doesn't want to mess with complex RHW interchanges, but wants more realism in the highway system. There are some old youtube videos by Mandelsoft out there that explain the basics really well, if you are interested:
