Why do all road curbs look terrible?

We can UV map the tris for the curbs in the road mesh, yet they always get stretched and look terrible. Why?

Is there anything road asset creators can do against it?

The _p mask works kind of like a decal, it's projected from the top and any vertical faces will just get smeared. If you don't apply that mask to the vertical faces in your texture map, you'll get the results you're after.

    I see.

Strange that CO let this issue take a dump on all of their vanilla roads eh? Did they expect cameras to never get close enough to see them?

most roads don't actually have the _p mask all the way to the curb anyway, it think it's purely out of a bit of laziness (on the devs and me) because it's easier to just use the _d map as a projection down, even though it would be easy to add a small strip for the curb as well. cbf for me coz i'm lazy and don't forget vanilla doesn't support being close enough for it to matter
