But I have that plugin pack!

I've also been battling a missing plugin pack warning, but when I converted the decimals into hex and looked them up in the Catty-log, they correspond to three files that are already in my plugins. They are all port enablers in BSC ports 3.1: (45DA8C3E, 3538ACA2, 156E7509)

  • v3_Enable BRT Seaport.dat
  • v3_Enable BLS Oil Port.dat
  • v3_Enable BLS Container Port.dat

So if I'm getting a warning about a file that's in my plugins, then what do I do next?

As far as I know, those files are part of the functional seaports, and this is a very serious mod.

Did you check the Readme and all necessary dependencies?
The three files you mentioned are the enablers for those ports. I would need to look up the instructions, but I know, that if you remove them, those ports are not available in the mod anymore until you put them back in (and enable the port again).

Kind regards!

Yes. What baffles me is that these enabler files are in my plugins folder. These ports still show in my sea-transit menu. I can still plop them (but get either brown boxes or scraped lots). How can they be missing if they're there?

For now I have bulldozed all occurrences and moved on. I might have some kind of version problem. I'll check to see if I have a bastard mix of v3 and v3.1 (but the missing files are exactly the ones that I have). Arrrgh  :(

From the comments of the download:

Impressive project! The missing dependency - it's not documented in the readme or the Cleanit file - can be found here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1547 // without this prop pack, two of the ports will show brown boxes. Let me also recommend this great guide, it contains a lot of useful information: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14336.msg412925#msg412925

Do you have this file? Seems like a good place to start.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Da, downloaded the same day I downloaded the ports. It pertains to the Newman ports, which are not the ones I had trouble with.

Thanks for the guide; I'll look through it for additional clues.

I'm still baffled at how the game can complain about a missing pack that datanode says is there. The ID in datanode even exactly matches the number that the game insists is missing. At least the bulldozer worked -- The complaints ceased after I plowed the ports.

I'm now using PEG ports modified to work under the BSC controller (the PEG controller having been excised from within, and some other IDs changed to use empty BSC slots). At least something works.

Its very likely the intermixing of PEG and BSC ports unfortunately.

Strip out ALL the PEG stuff and see if the BSC stuff works.  If it does, that's your culprit.

Also try making sure all the PEG stuff loads before the BSC stuff.

Okay, though I downloaded the altered PEG "enablers" from a thread written about port incompatibilities by BSC folk who seemed to know their stuff (and what custom port IDs to use), I'll try BSC on its own. Maybe the BSC enablers contain some poison pills reacting to the presence of any PEG ports -- though I don't see how.

After juggling my plugins (abandoning all datpacks and going raw) and adding a bunch of missing dependencies meticulously listed port-by-port in the BSC Seaport Guide, I tried plopping these ports anew. Happy day! They appear with no more brown boxes, and I can save / reload a city with them not complaining about missing plugin packs.

Not only that, but I have the BSC-modded PEG container port in the same city with no issues so far. That's with PEG following BSC seaports in my load order.

I'm not sure what the problem was earlier. Maybe it was load order, or maybe a datpack was mangled. If I learn anything more, I'll add a follow-up post.
