And, here's the update:

Spoiler

BMKG (Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Board) confirmed that the earthquake that shook Banten and its surrounding areas including Jakarta had no tsunami potential. This is the cause of the earthquake. "Earthquake measuring 6.4 (first five minutes) earthquake epicenter 81 km southwest of Lebak, Banten, 6.1 magnitude earthquake update," said Daryono, Head of Information and Earthquake BMKG in his statement on Tuesday (23/1/2018 ) said the quake, based on its depth, was caused by the Indo-Australian Plate subduction activity that dipped down the Eurasian Plate in southern Banten. "The results of the model show that this earthquake is not a potential tsunami, so there has been no reports of damage caused by the earthquake and people are encouraged to remain calm," Daryono said. The majority of high building managers in Jakarta asked residents in the building to exit the building. Office people were scattered.

This earthquake might have the continuation, so spread out this news especially if you have Indonesian friends and/or families. Don't forget to share this guide (in Indonesian of course) to prevent any casualties or injuries. Thanks.

I think this thread should be in the https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/forum/39-current-events/ forum.   so I'm flagging @CorinaMarie to ask if it should be moved.  As this year is predicted by scientific models to be very active for volcanoes and earthquakes/tsunamis.  We can collect reliable sources of tracking and reporting, as well as some info on preparedness.   I also live in an area that could get hit with a major EQ this year.

Just as I was reading this Alaska got hit with an 8.2 EQ.   All people in the Pacific Rim and Pacific Islanders need to be especially prepared this year.

Below is the USGS website that gives immediate info about current earthquakes.

https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/

Currently there is a tsunami warning in the north pacific and 2 major volcano warnings in Indonesia and New Guinea.

Sounds good to me. I've moved it.

We don't know exactly how the excess pressures will present, but again, all people in any range of volcanic or tectonic disturbance must be especially aware and prepared.
