Dependency Tracker on STEX

Hello,

Dependency tracker speeds up mod download, so LEX added dependency tracker since 2013 and getting better with more mods compatible with the system. This isn't case for STEX. STEX, which is using Files module included within IPS is hard to mod. Even, the staff has rejected the idea due to lack of developers. There are questions:

1. We need something can code sites. Are we ready to recruit some?
2. Is using wrapper ideal?

The LEX started as a closed exchange and has always required the unique user to login prior to downloading a file. Hence the dependency tracker was a feature which was (relatively speaking) easy to implement by looking at the table of downloads that a user account has downloaded and providing the necessary information as to whether the file has been downloaded previously.

Files from the STEX can be downloaded either with a login account or as a guest (and this has always been the case). This means that the website cannot accurately track downloaded files on a per user basis unless that user has always been logged in when downloading files. And that is assuming that the website administrator wishes to actually spend the money necessary on web developers to find this information out, which they have said that they are not prepared to do.
