SimCity 3000 UK buildings to sjs Converting Project

Hi Yohane here, I have been using the rendering kit, by print screening buildings with a vast commercial zone surrounding to repaint it transparent.

it works well like having Asian buildings in american cities, European buildings in Asian cities and whatever.
but there is one problem, I had UK edition but my PC is a windows 10 and would not install to my pc.

Have any of you got UK edition that runs?

If so follow these steps with pictures:

1) Start a new miniature city in the UK set.
2) have the whole terrain leveled wilt light commercial use the " I am Weak Cheat" for everything free

3) use the select any building code by opening and closing the building menu in order "1-Power Plant menu>2 Reward and Opportunity menu>3 Waste Disposal Plant menu and finally the Landmark menu should show every building that exists in the game for you to select and place like a landmark.

After you place the UK building the main ones I want Are "Smithtons's Shopping Arcade, 60's Appartments, Trepidation Towers, Dog and Bone Pub, Brighton Bureaucracy and all the UK residential buildings that has no EU counterpart renamed.

When one buys from GoG do they distribute specific editions depending on location? If so, @Cyclone Boom would prolly have a UK version.

Edit: And to clarify, you need someone to make those 4 print screens of each image. Right? (And if using clip2pic, they need to set it to 100% quality.)

Just simply print screen the buildings with the vast zone so I can repaint it pink, it has to be the closest zoom to work to render as a building sprite.

@Yohane Architects that picture is stunning, I do have the UK disk version of the game, unfortunately I finally stopped using Windows last year and computer is now using Linux Mint so not sure I can help, went and had a look at GOG and its says in the description for SC3KU

What is this UK edition I keep hearing about ??? So it's different from the "Unlimited" or "World edition" Wow !!!! 

 

One remark... I've also had this idea of making reimports of the buildings from the different tilesets so we could be able to mix and match them... and as I said, it looks great.

But... sadly there's a tiny quality loss when you do so. Because the game renders at half the resolution. So when you reimport you get a slightly blurry result.

UK edition is a UK special of Sc3u.
it has its own buildings as well as renamed buildings in the European Set.
UK buildings has replaced some EU buildings I like such as Super Spur, Too Tall Tower, Zachary Thomas Insurance most of the medium high valued buildings were pretty dull. but now that I don't have a compatible UK Edition I miss some of the UK buildings.

Damnit !!!!!!! That's amazing !! It was an awesome idea... Too bad they didn't go on with localized versions, imagine a spanish, french, sweden, etc edition with buildings like this, they might have missed an opportunity there.

Maybe someone still running XP could do the export 

I still think it's sad that the things we reimport gets a tiny bit blurred... but these are real exclusives that need to be preserved in a way. (and maybe we'll find a way to inject non blurred pics inside rendered buildings instead of using the rendering system).

(I didn't compare lists, but there's at least a few which we don't have on the STEX.)

My computer is using Linux Mint 64, I got the GOG version of SC3 so I could play it again, I'll gave it a shot trying to get the UK disk version up and running but no guarantees at this stage.

@CorinaMarie I've had time to think while driving to work, I think we would be on very dodgy ground copying files from the disks, as EA is still selling them, its one thing saving stuff from a defunct website, but commercial content belonging to a company that still selling it .....

A game that can't run on windows 10 (and runs on 7 or 8 with lots of tweaking now). WOW !

Prolly more like EA has authorized GoG to sell it, but the same end result with regard to the EULA.

As much as I like the idea, I'm afraid with concerns over licenses or legalities, we cannot allow such official content to be extracted and shared here. Generally when anything is sold as an entity (bundled or otherwise), there's a big question mark surrounding redistribution, good willed or not. Yeah, let's not go there...

The Maxis files uploaded already are different because they're no longer available on an official exchange, and were originally released as free DLC.

All I wanted is the Maxis UK buildings to be available as landmarks or replacement buildings downloads (Due to UK Edition not compatible, and for players that never seen them) like what ADC and SAC did with Maxis buildings back in the days those sites were available.

I could be wrong, but in your case you don't want the actual buildings just pictures of them so maybe that's OK?

pictures in N S E W to make buildings (Personally for my city if it goes against anything), I like to show them buildings off as Ryuto City pictures, or my British Themed cities.
just post them in chat if it violates the thread I'll minimally only want 5 UK Buildings.

I like UK buildings such as.

Dog Bone Pub
60 Apartments or( 60 Tower)
Trepidation Towers
Smithton's Shopping Arcade
Brighton's Bureaucracy.

I'll give the rest a miss.
that way keeping UK Editions values. (even though no that game is sold for modern computers)

I'll kind of see UK Edition being sold of GOG in future.

It's a great shame they've never made them available for all to enjoy.

The problem is the buildings are applicable and unique specifically to the UK Edition. If they were never released separately for free, making them available would mean we'd be sharing parts of a product we're not legally entitled to distribute. The same applies in any form, and via any medium. The UK buildings are sadly only available once purchasing SC3K as a unique version. They're not in the public domain, which means they are bound to the software.

This is purely speculation, but perhaps our best hope is to ask GOG whether they'd be able to negotiate a deal with EA, and bundle them as an extra. Surely from GOG's perspective this can only be a positive. Since apart from digital and DRM-free, it'd provide another incentive for people to purchase.

We can't make any promises on decisions out of our hands. But with Simtropolis having contacts from being a GOG affiliate, it could well be a possibility.

Lives here but I neither have a copy of SC3K nor do I buy German editions of anything if I can avoid it. It's UK all the way for me.
