I'm starting to learn NAM and stumbled onto a graphical error that looks like tiles simply not displaying anything when rail crosses certain RHW's. I haven't tried all the widths, but so far it seems to consistently happen on 6 and 7 wide ground-level RHW (I'm not sure if rail is supposed to be able to cross that many lanes, or why you'd want to IRL, but it seems to be acceptable for smaller lanes so I assumed it would work). I'll post a pic or two. Here it shows me dragging rail over RHW-6, but it makes a dark brown path indicating it's going to display neither the RHW nor the rail:

It shows rail here, after I've done the above with the dark brown path:

But it seems to work just fine with RHW-2 and elevated RHW

Any help?

(Oh, and if my RHW looks odd it's because it's Euro texture, so no yellow American lines.)

The simple answer is that the crossing you are trying to make is unsupported and thus does not appear. Whilst you might well see in some parts of the world an at-grade crossing with a highway, rarely will that include 6-lane ones or higher. As such support for RHW/Rail is limited to RHW-2, RHW-3 and RHW-4 networks, mainly because some of the usage scenarios make sense to have at-grade crossings. Because these base crossings need to be supported, rather than an error, you get missing tiles. Because RHW-2 forms the base of RHW, it's the RHW 6-S override that isn't appearing.

As for the US stoplines, that's down to the fact that no EU versions of these textures were made until very recently. I'll do my best to get those additions into NAM 36, as I overhauled a lot of the RRW crossing textures late last year.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

While I'm no expert on this matters, I believe that your problem is trying to use a crossing that was deliberately ommited. Highways are characterised by being isolated of every other traffic, so a train crossing would be totally inadequate, and really dangerous (think on cars going at 120 km/h on the highway and having to stop on a crossing to let a train to cross).

On the other hand, the RHW-2, being also a highway, is meant to simulate rural routes, with lower speeds and no need for total grade separation, so the train crossings are adequate there.

In resume, I would recommend you to raise the highway a bit, sink the railway a bit, get a 7,5 metres gap between them, and to use a pair of L1 on-slope flex-height to make the highway go over the trains.
