SNM Navy Set Missing Parts - Bug

Hey, so  I have installed the SNM Navy Base Set to build a naval base in one of my towns. I have installed all the dependencies twice now, but unfortunately pieces of wharf are missing in my game. This is what it looks like. As you can see, pieces of the wharf are missing and containers and the like are just floating in air.

Now among the dependencies of this mod, there is the SNM Navy LHA Dock. Among the dependencies of that is this file which has been " superceded by BSC MEGA Props RT Vol04". According to the comments, the new file is still missing some parts of the old file, but the old file was locked by the administrators. Could this be the cause for the missing pieces? I hope someone with more knowledge than me can help me out there.

First, since all the downloads in question are only available over at SC4D on the LEX, this question should have been more properly posted there, to make the admins there aware of any problems.

Second, when a content creator listes a dependency, it is usually implied that any dependencies for that dependency are not required, else the content creator should list THAT dependency seperately.  That doesn't always happen.

Third, for downloads at the LEX, if you go by the dependencies listed in a readme vs. the Dependency Tracker (when its available), you are more than likely going to get links to old files.  Always use the Dependency Tracker when available.  While the Navy Base Set doesn't support the Dependency Tracker, the LHA Dock does.  The dependency Tracker is usually more accurate.

Now having said that, starting with only the Navy Base Set, and the dependencies listed in the ReadMe for that download, I came up with no missing props or textures according to SC4DataNode.

There were, however, missing models for buildings on the following Lots:

SNM_WF_OC_b15d53bb.SC4Lot
SNM_WF_ICv2_919065e8.SC4Lot
SNM_WF_2x4_Straight_f15d50d2.SC4Lot

I determined that these models came from BSC MEGA Props - RT WFK N Vol01.  This is needed in addition to BSC MEGA Props - RT WFK Vol01 (as listed in the ReadMe).

I plopped all 10 of the lots in the Navy Base Set.  In addition to having none of the problems you show, none of them match any of the lots in your picture.  This basically tells me you misidentified the download with the problems (looking at the dependencies in the ReadMe more closely might have given me a clue sooner)

Please identify the correct download, or we can't help you (not to mention we don't spend a lot of time trying to resolve a problem that doesn't exist)!

FWIW, your lots come from SNM Navy Specials.  Again, starting with only SNM Navy Specials, and the dependencies listed in the ReadMe for that download, I came up with no missing props or textures according to SC4DataNode.

The only item I could find used from the LHA Dock download is the RT_WIMPS_N_DockCrane prop (& model) found in SNM LHA Dock.dat, so the answer to your question about BSC MEGA Props RT Vol04 is no.

Plopping the lots in game revealed no problems.  So this tells me you don't have all the necessary dependencies.  A process of elimination determined that you are missing BSC MEGA Props - RT WFK Vol01.

I see that there are numerous people who have reported this issue in the past, and yet little has been done. I suspect that the responsible parties made an error, but because Sim Nation military docks are not particularly popular or well used (compared to their BSC shipping counterparts), the error went unnoticed, even by the reporters, who tended to drop the issue or were users who did not wait around for an answer, and so no clarification was ever met.

I will see what we can do about that with the peeps over at SC4Devotion. I would also recommend that you raise this issue over there, since there are still active LEX admins and BSC members who may be better equipped to solve your problem. I do not have the file you seek to compare it to the replacement download that I might verify.

Thanks twalsh102. I was noticing some weirdness in the dependency lists, but hadn't been able to fully check it out. Thanks for the help.

Well, thank you - I was pretty sure that my screenshots were from the base set, but apparently there were not. But I also had the missing wharf problem with the base set lot. In any case, the problem is fixed now as I installed the BSC MEGA Props - RT WFK Vol01 (without the 'N'), and the wharfs are visible.

Also I didn't comment on LEX because the last comment on that file was from 2014 and I didn't know how long it was gonna take for someone to reply.

You're correct in thinking posting a comment on a download page that hasn't seen anything new for a long time isn't likely to get any answers.  However, you always have the option of creating a new topic in the forums on the main SC4D site (just as you did here).  Even if it isn't in the exactly correct forum, the moderators would likely move it to the correct one.  You are also more likely to get help by doing this rather than simply posting a comment.

FWIW, you're not likely to get any feedback to a comment posted on a download page (here or elsewhere) unless the download is fairly new, or unless you're sure the content creator is still active (within the last couple of months). Even then there is no guarantee.

Yes, I should have clarified that I meant opening a report in the actual forum section of SC4Devotion. The reports to which I was referring were not related to the comment section in any way, as it's not a very useful tool in tracking reports and the reviews are of files on the LEX do not promote discussion.

Thank you all for responding. As a little thanks for your support, you can take a look at my recently created naval base. ;)

You need to understand that comments on downloads are NOT supposed to be for tech support. That's there for comments about the download itself. If you want a technical issue to be resolved, you are much better off posting in the relevant thread or starting a new one where no active thread exists.

Exactly. Content creators do not frequently check such comments, because comments are usually not that frequent and there is typically no notification of them. It's unlikely they'll be seen, let alone answered.

@twalsh102 - Great job on helping here. The number of dependencies was too much for me to consider taking it on. Any chance you can give a comprehensive list of all of them? I'll see if I can get the Dep. Tracker updated for this download, which should help avoid confusion for other users.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Actually, the readme files that come with the downloads are mostly correct.

For SNM Navy Base Set,  BSC MEGA Props - RT WFK N Vol01 needs to be added to the existing dependency list.

For SNM Navy Specials, BSC MEGA Props RT Vol04 could be substituted for BSCBATProps RT MineCorp Vol01.  This isn't absolutely necessary as the link in the ReadMe file clearly states that BSCBATProps RT MineCorp Vol01has been become part of , and thus us superseded by BSC MEGA Props RT Vol04.

All other dependencies listed in both ReadMe files are correct.

Neither of these downloads "...support the LEX Dependency Tracker yet."
