Can anyone get the December 25th easter egg to work on SC4 Deluxe Edition?  Even if I change my date on my computer to 12/25, it does not show snow in my cities, is this an egg that was removed from the deluxe version?

Thanks.

It might have never been released at all, I think.

You can still get snow at any time: Cycledoggs Columbus Terrain Snowcapped mod

it's an easter egg that came with the game and works on both versions. but, you have to have mountains high enough for it to work. the mountains get gradually covered in snow as the months progress, then the snow melts away. if i remember correctly, cheetah speed is too fast for it to work.

WRONG! I've Deluxe, and when I heard about it,
I changed my computer data to 12/25, and got snow!
But you'll only get snow starting from on hilly terrain, from 35 metres or so;
It doesn't work for lower terrain. Try it out with a mountain or a hill, and wait for a Sim-year.
In the winter, you'll get the most snow. In the summer, you'll see only snow on really high terrain.

That's right.  And if you want the snow effect to last a while, run the game on turtle speed.

Cool, thanks all!  My problem was that my region is too flat, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Well, everyone else told you about the terrain height but I'll say your welcome anyway.

what i think is neat about this is that it covers not only the terrain, but the roads, and the lot base textures, giving a rather complete and realistic look of snow cover. this is, unfortunately, one thing missing in the snow modifications.

I played SC today for the first time in a week, and I saw snow!
I wasn't sure it the snow was caused by a mod i'd installed today or because of the date....

    Pretty cool effect though.

This just happens on its own? All you have to do is build on a mountian top? I've got to try this!

Yeah, just on it's own. I was kinda freaked out at first, until I realized what was happening. You don't even need to be on a mountaintop. The terrain in Laurentic is just kind of high. As long as you're entire region isn't near sea level, you should see it.

Is there anyway that we can have this happen everytime, instead of just on December 25? Cuz it would be terrific instead of having to wait a whole year (not Sim year) to see this happen!

ty maxis it was amazing, i was sleepy and turned on my game, when i saw my city i almost spilled my tea lol, great that they added this44.gif44.gif44.gif.

now if only someone could create a program to 'trick' the game into thinking it was 25th december whenever you want.  changing the clock is, then changing it back everytime your done is a bit of a hastle

You can have this year round, however it takes some effort, before you enter the game change your computer's date to 12/25 and it should work

If you want to make it last all year long and make it just a button click I think ud need to contact maxis and ask them for the actual coding used to program SC4... Other than that its just the clock I think...
