Making a functional reward lot

Hey, me again!
Does anybody know of a turorial for making functional rewards using PIM-X, I understand that it can only give you a template and you need to use the Reader for the scripts. I found a couple of tutorials but this one seems to be outdated (please correct me if I'm wrong), and the other one is for replacing Maxis rewards, which I don't want to do.

Thanks a lot!

I've just scanned through the linked tutorial, so far as I can tell nothing is out of date. But you do need to be able to modify a reward script (LUA) so set everything up. If you haven't already done so, concentrate of finishing up your lot before you start this process. For one thing, the Conditional Building property, when set active will prevent you from opening the lot in the Lot Editor. Once that's done, decide what conditions you want to apply to building the lot. You're going to need to use reader extensively from this point, but almost everything can be copy/pasted and modified to suit your requirements. If you get stuck, best to go through each point as and when you get there. That way, more specific answers can be provided.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

And don't put to many requirements into the LUA file in order to get the building in the game. I had five requirements and had to reduce it to four when testing it in game. In my case the counters for the city and regional population stopped working close to the level I had set in the LUA file.

Kind regards!

@rsc204 Thanks for the answer, I probably should have finished the lot before I started asking; I have a spare test reward lot that I was going to discard, maybe I can use that one to test the LUA scripts and when it all works as intended I can move on to make the definitive lot.

@markussaage Thanks! This particular reward only has three requirements but I'll keep that in mind for future lots I intend to make.

Hey, sorry for the bump, I just wanted to air this: It worked! :ohyes:

I even managed to make bi-lingual support by making two .dat files with the same LUA file but different LETXT files; it's not automatic, players have to choose if they want to install the english or the spanish files, but I'm really pleased with how my reward turned out.

¡Thanks again for the help povided!
