Mac versions of on-track train stations

Hello

To save some space in my cities, I have been looking for stations that can be placed on the tracks. I have found two lots but they are exe files. When I am trying to extract them, I get error codes and hence cannot get them to work. Does anyone have a converted version available for Mac? The two stations are underneath. If anyone knows other on-tack stations, please let me know.

Thank you

Samuel

Two things you need to know as a Mac user when it comes to stations.

First is a more general problem, you will come across installers, these most likely won't work with your Mac. Thus you will need to get hold of a 3rd party utility that allows your Mac to extract the data from such files manually. A commonly used tool for this is File Juicer, but I'm sure there are other options too.

The second is a problem with transit enabled lots that affects Mac's only. When using SC4 Tools to TE a station, there is a bug that reverts the Rep Count of two properties to 1. PC users will not notice any problem, but it can cause CTDs with Macs. I included instructions on how to modify the Rep Counts in this post:

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

So you would suggest to avoid using custom stations on a Mac?

I was looking for a free alternative to filejuicer but the alternatives (Keka and 7Zx) do not work. Any idea for a working alternative?

You don't have to avoid using custom stations, but if you run into issues, you will have to fix the problem or ditch the affected lots. Since it's editing two properties from a 1 to a 0, I know which I'd do.

As for free alternatives to File Juicer, sorry I've no experience there. I don't use a Mac (at least not with OSX), so I really couldn't say. However, the typical installer used in the community is one by ClickTeam. This is particularly problematic for Windows users too, since you can't typically access the files within. For whatever reason, File Juicer seems to be about the only tool that can bypass that limitation.

I used filejuicer. I only need the DAT file and the jpg file right? There are also some PNG files, Should I put them in the folder as well?

SC4 tools is only for Windows it seems, any idea how else I can solve it?

SC4 tools is the application most modders use to create TE lots, in fact, sans doing it with Hex Code, it's the only application that does it. But since that application makes the error, you won't be able to fix the problem with SC4 Tools.

For that you need iLives Reader, but again I suspect that's a Windows tool too. I suspect you probably need to run something like Wine if you want to use most of the utilities for SC4.

However, it may not be necessary, many of the stations out there don't have this problem, but you should be aware of the issue as it only affects Mac users. For example, the stations by Marrast are part of SLURP, so if you re-install the NAM, it will replace the original lots with better tuned ones, which certainly don't have the problem. I expect also that Coego's lots wouldn't suffer the issue, he's one of the most experienced transit modders there is. If however, you do come across some that don't work, if you post on the support threads here with a link to the stations in question, I would be happy to fix them for you. The issue is that there is no definitive list, I didn't mean to put you off or suggest all stations were buggy.

The JPG and PNG files are just images that show you what the lot looks like. You do not need them in your plugins folder. The only sort of files that need to be in the plugins folder are ones with the following file extensions: .dat, .sc4lot, .sc4model, and .sc4desc.
