Cascadia Tree Controller Seasonal Trees

I have really enjoyed this God Mode tree controller and the mmps that are included in it. However, I do have one issue. It seems that the trees start in autumn no matter what time of year it is.  I have done my best to work with this but, I have already carefully painted trees in many cities in the region. Now seasonal trees are very slightly out of sync with each other and definitely out of sync with the seasonal trees on my streets and grow able lots. In the past I have used ploppable parks with seasonal trees on them that were synced with the in game calendar. Is it possible to do the same thing with God Mode or mmp trees?

Good question.  Probably should be moved to the STEX discussion though.

you have to push pause in march, build the entire city, then push play in order for everything to be synchronized, except for the ones that are planted in september, then you do those later. Unless theres a technical way to do it, i dunno.

Any seasonal "flora" items require you to pause the game on a specific date, then plop them. Otherwise the seasons will not appear as intended. For a tree controller that's always the 1st September. Most MMPs also should be placed on the 1st September, although some must be placed on the 1st March. Usually the description will tell you, otherwise it should be listed in the readme.

There are two different way to achieve seasonal trees... with either props or flora. Both these types may seem similar, but under the surface they are completely different in many ways. Props use timing, so they appear and disappear at set dates. You would have 3 separate props for say Summer, Autumn and Winter variants. All these will turn on and off in sync to give the appearance of seasons.

Flora works differently, these will switch between different trees after a set amount of time. But rather than start on a specific date, this sequence begins when you place the items. Both tree controllers and MMPs are wholly reliant on using Flora, you can not make them with props. These dates are wholly inflexible and dictated by how a given set of seasonal items should appear. Hence the slightly less than ideal requirements for placing them.

That's really too bad.  Surely there is a way to access the game clock in the instantiation of such items.

Nope, Flora just doesn't work that way. It would require changes to the code, which despite recent developments, still isn't realistically within our grasp.

Well, too bad.  Users will just have to be aware of the restrictions.

Thank you very much! As annoying as this is I'll just grit my teeth replant my flora. Its less annoying that seeing unsyncronized trees, that's for sure. Just when I had finished tracing all my wetlands. Ahaha.

To get rid of the flora you have planted in your city without having to use the bulldozer on everything, press Ctrl-X to open up the cheat console and type in "flora off" (without the quotes). Then press Enter and all the flora will disappear (this includes MMPs). Now, press Ctrl-X and type "flora on." Now, you can plant new stuff. This is also useful if you ever want to change tree controllers, because if you fail to remove all trees planted by the old tree controller before getting rid of it, then the game will CTD (crash to desktop), and you really don't want that.
