NAM 34 mod

I am building my "test city" that does not have power stations, etc., but buys its utilities from towns that specifically produce those things.

Right now I am experimenting with adding various forms of public transportation, and tried adding the NAM 34 mod which, according to what I can find, adds a bunch of new road and public transportation options.

According to everything I can find I installed it correctly (I found a YouTube video that showed how to install it, and did just as they showed), and the new street/transportation types should just "show up" in the various menus, but they don't.  I have looked around trying to figure out what I should "fix," but according to everything I can find, it should just work, and there would be nothing to "fix."

It really depends on what you chose to install. During that process you'd have been given the options for 3 default setups or to customise the installation. The most basic install only contains major improvements to the games traffic simulator and some other must-have updates.

Rather than install everything, which you might find daunting, I suggest starting small. You can select the custom installer and take a look at all the included options. Although  it's not been refreshed recently, the included documentation (found in My Documents\Sim City 4\NAM Auxiliary files) is also a really good place to get a grasp on what NAM can do.

It's worth noting that every time you re-run the installer, it remembers your last settings. So you can run it and try out things. Many of these new pieces will have items in the game menus. But many of them are simply code-based, what I mean is, you need to do something in a particular way to make the new content appear. For example, take the road tool and make a 2x2 circle with it, note how it transforms into a roundabout.

Be prepared to take some time learning the new features, if you do I promise it will be worthwhile. I've some beginner tutorials on YouTube (see link in my sig) and there is plenty of information out there. If you have any specific questions you can always ask on the NAM Thread.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
