Help, OSX 10.10.5, STEAM version Plugins location

First, glad to see Simtopolis.com up and running with great community support.

Second, the set up: OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite, STEAM Simcity 4 (1920 x 1080), NAM 32 and few buildings and PEG files. All work great!

Breakdown of system: Desktop with 55 gb Yosemite SSD partition, Storage (half empty) 4 tb HD :: i7 3770k, 32 gb RAM, dual Evga 660 ti 2 gb

My issue is that my start up disk has obviously limited space and I'ld like to move the plugins & regions folders to the 4 tb drive.

I thought this would have an easy fix of creating a Plugins folder on the 4 tb drive then create an alias folder in the Documents Simcity 4 Plugins. This did not work.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

For whatever reason, SimCity 4 will not read alias/symlinks* of folders.  What you can do, however, is create a parallel folder structure in your proposed location and create an alias/symlink for each file and move it to the appropriate folder - but that might be really tedious.  I do it for my plugins, but my plugins consist of 50-some odd datpacked files, so it's not really a big hassle.

There is also the following shortcut parameter, which will tell SC4 to look somewhere else for your "...\My Documents\SimCity 4\" folder location.  Not sure how that works in Steam or on a Mac, though - you might have to experiment.

-UserDir:[path]

* I prefer symlinks to aliases for a few reasons but I'm not going to go into detail here.  You can do some research on google if you're so inclined.

I figured it out. I had to uninstall and reinstall on the desired available drive. Then dig into Simcity 4 to find the plugins location.

I've attached a screen grab of how the folder system is setup. And screen grab from in game.

It is a bit slow on loading, but game runs well. Have some PEG, BSC, NAM 32 and others.

A bit off topic, but your screen shot shows me perhaps the single greatest thing I can't stand about the Aspyr version; something I didn't notice right away:  Why are the grid lines so prominent on all the textures?  I suppose it might not really be noticeable in a built-up area, but on roads and fallow farm fields it looks awful.  It's entirely independent of whether the grid ("g" key) is turned on or off.
