I was wondering how I could increase demand in my city of almost 200,000 it's on a medium sized lot 100 percent zoned mainly high wealth and medium.  One issue is that atleast half of the high wealth buildings are downgraded to medium. Another problem is residents is maxed out on all of their lots almost all high density maxed out.  Every demand is negetive I do not allow low wealth and dirty with taxes.  My commercial is stuck on places like ajjanagadde inc and high rise medium co.  My city has very few avenues and I recently added a grid layout subway station to fix commute.  I've tried adding landmarks Colombia center and the living mall they didn't help. My city has a stock Echange and convention center. Every once in a while the medium wealth demand skyrockets and another medium wealth skyscraper squeezes into the already dense residential zones.  The only way I can get demand to rise Is to make a disaster like a tornado destroy some blocks of high tech and they rebuild causing the demand to rise but only for medium wealth. Anyone have any tips

The game needs low wealth sims to exist somewhere in your connected region.  This may be the source of most of your stagnation.  Did you know that the job category which provides the most high wealth jobs, CO$$$, only has 15% of listed jobs going the R$$$ sims?  The rest are split between medium wealth the low wealth.  As you see, the game is designed so that you can't have all high wealth, and need a mix.

Also make sure you have done what you can to relieve the Demand Caps.  Build any rewards that you have received.  Make sure your city has plenty neighbor connections (and you have developed the neighbors).  Demand is region wide, so by building up other cities in your region you can help increase and stabilize demand.. Also build parks in the residential and industrial zones and plazas in the commercial zones.

Good advice.  Trying to get an all $$$ city is a labour of Sisyphus*.  As the game is programmed it expects a balance of grunts (R$), knowledge workers (R$$) and management types (R$$$).  Given any building you can look at the expected workers in the building if you have loaded the 'extra cheats dll'.  To inspect the building stats, activate the query operator (/), then holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT move the query cursor onto the building.  You get the debug information for the building which includes the number of jobs by wealth type.

Think of a Peter Principle corporation where an individual rises to his level of incompetence.  Everyone gets promoted to a job he can't quite do, and this is in a hierarchy.  Like a symphony orchestra, there can be only one conductor (R$$$), a limited number of first desk players (R$$) and the rest ordinary instrumentalists (R$).  There are many violinists in the string section but only one first violinist (concertmaster).  Somebody has to push wind through the tuba.

How big is your region? I mean, how much population do you have in the region?

You probably need a minimum amount of population in your region in order to get the highest buildings so as to increase population density inside you city by "unlocking" the highest buildings (skyscrapers).

According to the guide for this program, you should be seeing one or two CO$$$ buildings when you meet the desirability criteria and there are more than 80G Sims in your tile.  Regional play was added to the mix with the Rush Hour expansion pack (Deluxe) and it definitely enhances things if you play a set of cities adjacent to each other.  it is a bit of a nuisance, but it is worth keeping them more or less in synchronization.

BTW, I said 80G for 80,000.  80K would be 81,920.  Sloppy thinking these days have made the G abbreviation for 1000 and the K abbreviation for 1024 the same, but in discussion computer programs, accuracy is best.

I was just going to ask what on earth is "G" after a number!

If I recall well there are 8 building's level (stages) in the game. So according to your data, how much people do I need to reach "unlock" a building of stage 8?.

Actually I'm led to believe, officially speaking, that a KB is now considered to be only 1000 bytes, thus a MB is 1000 KB and so on. This goes against every fibre of my being however.

parks and churches are the easiest way to increase demand.
