Simcity 4 Rush Hour stopped working

Hey Guys,

Back with another strange issue. I finally got everything to work, was downloading all kinds of nice plugins until suddenly the game stopped working. At random I just double clicked to start the game and completeley nothing happened. Only the the ''hourglass''  shows up for one second and then it disappears. The game doesn't even show it start up screen, just zero nada. Has anybody heard of this strange problem? I already reinstalled the game but I have this issue with Simcity 4 and Rush hour both as of now. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Plugin conflict is the most likely cause of the problem. "Lots of plugins" can result in "Lots of headaches".

Follow the instructions and at some point your game should start functioning again. But a request: Please, for the love of God and all that is holy, tell us what is causing your game to crash when you find it! By doing so you'll be saving many people from the problems you're having right now.

Edit: Nope, it was that Windows update (See below). I keep forgetting about that. Thanks, Microsoft.

Almost certainly it's the Windows update and not the plugins, see here for more information.

It was indeed the windows update guys, thanks a lot. Windows should stop doing such things in order to ''protect our systems'' ....

Hello, could you tell me what system you are running? I am running Windows 7 and have the same issue, Sim City was stalling for a few days, then about three days ago I have the same problems you have. I have not downloaded any recent plugins in the past few days as far as I can remember.

Microsoft has propagated this "fix" to all versions from Vista forward.  If you read the various threads (pinned) dealing with this, you'll find a work around or two for Windows 7.

However, save your pennies and purchase a digital copy of the game.  On Windows 10 using safe disk related programs, and there are many, is gone forever.  I strongly suggest you give Origin and Steam a pass on this and get the standard version 1,1,641 from a non-DRM vendor if you want any of the after market programs to work without any messing about.  If you watch the vendor sites you may pick this up for under $5. U.S.
