City Life - Final Results

With voting now concluded, we're pleased to announce the City Life challenge winners! :D

Thanks to all participants. It was a very close battle, but the top 3 (as decided by the album rating order) are as follows...

Total Entries: 22
Prize Fund: 440 Rep

1st Place:  Krisman - Baie de Byron: Market Square
Prize220 Rep

large.Baie_de_Byron_-_Weekly_Challange_1
"Although Baie de Byron (the capital city of Republique de Guatalaga) has grown into a city with over 200.000 citizens, the markets are still a part of everyday life. The market on Market Square is the biggest one in the city, being partially indoor and outdoor. Here the citizens of Baie de Byron can buy all the local produce they feed at a fair price."

Showcasing an urban market scene, along with timeless W2W buildings, Krisman's image captures the look & feel of a classic European city centre.

2nd Place:  feyss - Hollogne
Prize: 132 Rep

large.55c28f19dc32f_Olsnes-2.jpg.44cedc0
"Olsènes: "Hollogne district" seen from above with the Hogne river, the A10 motorway and the abbey."

Contrasting the old with the new, feyss' image showcases the busy and diverse nature of a riverside area.

3rd Place:  kingofsimcity - Jericho Suburbs
Prize: 88 Rep

large.55c29d659ed54_Jericho-Mar._18_9014
"The city of Jericho's suburban center, whose defining features include a massive shopping mall and a country club."

From the parking lot to the middle of the green, kingofsimcity's image reveals various activities which make up the suburbs.

(You may notice the album is now listed in submission order. This is because ratings are now disabled, which unfortunately means the option to sort by "Highest Rated" is not available).

Congratulations to the winners!

Also thanks again for all entries, even if you didn't make the top 3 this time around. ;)

Hi,

I read the challenge's topic again, and I really don't understand how this ranking was made. For me, the result must be 1. me 2. Simcoug and 3. Tonraq. according to the images score.

The album ranking does not correspond to those scores. Or maybe, there is an hidden variable ? I don't know.

Great pictures though on this challenge ;)

It was an interesting challenge and the images were great!

I'm confused as well, though. Was the rating we gave the images not counted or was there some invisible factor? Because if you go by raw ratings, what feyss said is accurate. I looked through the images to see if maybe having more votes overall made them win, but this was not the case. I can't say I followed everything super closely (since I wasn't participating), so I may have missed some special rule, but I don't think that I did...

This final ranking also confuses me a little - rating alone does not account for volume of votes  - from the original communications on the scoring mechanism I thought  (rating * nr of votes) = total score was the intent, leading to the ranking feyss deduced.

However final the judges decision is could you please make explicit what the ranking criteria/formula are/is.
