Hey everyone. Currently Mr. Maison, Zed68, Gula and I have been working on large texturing guide that will cover texturing in detail as well as information about LODS and more! We would like to help the CSL community by producing a guide that will contain good information that will result in higher quality assets.

I personally see a lot of assets that have bad LODS or lacking proper textures.

So I'm asking anyone who has any useful information about texturing, LOD's, or anything related to asset creation in general to come forward and respond to this thread so it can be included before it is released. The guide is currently being worked on in Steam and I don't want to post it here just yet. We have a lot of stuff already covered but hearing something from another perspective can help improve what we already have. So please share with us. Thanks! :)

Some things that you could provide are...

  • Texturing Tips & Tricks
  • Information about LOD Creation
  • Information about Proper Scale
  • Problems you've had occur with Solution
  • Links to Good Free Texture Sites
  • Links to Helpful Tutorials
  • Other Resources

Following my bad experience with the way the editor imported the Hearse's textures, I might have a few more things to add (I've been reading some info about the compression used by the games, things to avoid mostly).

Thanks everyone for being apart of it. Just going to bump this thread so it gets noticed. The guide is coming along nicely now. Here is a quick overview of the categories we have created so far. If you have anything to add to any of these categories let us know. Thanks

    Is the guide on Steam?

I've been playing around with some techniques for windows on old buildings that I'd be happy to share.

Yes the guide is on steam but will be published in many different locations as well. I'd love for you to share your technique for windows on old buildings. That area of the guide is currently lacking so it would be a great addition. :)

Is it hidden? I can't find it on Steam.

Yes It's hidden, it's not released yet. Add me as a friend on steam and I will add you as a contributor.
