I will be gone for a long time. I don't think that I have the time to create both mods. That's why I am asking you which one is more important.

Texture Replacer

F4lhBdp.jpg

The texture replacer mod will allow you to select a texture pack that replaces the textures of:
Buildings, Props, Trees, Vehicles, Ground

I will only create the framework, and other modders can create the texture packs.

Possible would be:
Remastered stock textures (no blue, yellow and green roofs!)
A winter texture pack with snow on roofs, trees...

This is a purely visual mod. You can disable it without a problem except for eye cancer.

Bridge Customizer

3DD8C56D7693569B1965D0DFB0AA8F61E2C860DA

Today I discovered how to modify bridges. The mod would allow other modders to add custom bridges for roads, train tracks and pedestrian paths.

Planned is a dialog where you can select the bridge type, like in SimCity 4.

Bridges made of a single mirrored segment with a length up to 200m are possible (for example this one, without the train tracks on top)!

This mod adds new road types to the game, like Traffic++. When you disable it after you placed the custom bridges, things will go wrong.

Hmm since you are already working on the texture replacer I think you should stick with it. The bridges are more interessting to me but this could be done by other modders... sooner or later.

I voted for bridges, but I'd prefer to have you finish what you started with the textures first. I'd prefer neither mods to have you stick around, though.

I'm working on a solution for that. It only becomes a problem when you go back to the main menu and load another city.

I think the possibility of custom bridges opens up more opportunity for mods, but having textures replaced with some better ones also opens up a whole new world of graphically better looking cities and buildings.  It's a hard one but I chose bridges.  I really want bridges more than I want redone textures.  Just my opinion.

    I vote bridge too

But of course do what is the most interesting for you as it's one of your last mod.

I vote bridges, but only because it seems like there are significantly fewer compatibility issues with it. But I agree with the above; choose whichever one you most want to work on.

Hi, (Im NGON in paradox and steam). I vote for textures. Changing the colour palette of certain vanilla buildings can do wonders.

I vote for textures too. Most of the buildings that I've downloaded, I won't use because they look completely unrealistic.

You didn't understand what this mod will do, it will replace textures for the built-in buildings, not for custom buildings.

it also works for custom ones.

I'm liking it so far! Out of curiosity, will the final product be able to stretch & contort the pattern based on the bridge length, as the default bridges do?

Last update on the better bridges mod:

It is easily possible to replace the bridge model, also to create multiple different bridges.

The problem is that when I attempt to replace the texture of the bridge, the texture mapping does not work correctly. This is caused by the shaders used by CO.

I don't know how to fix that. When I replace the shader, the scaling and rotation of the bridge segments does not work.

The project is on hold until October.

So, what about the bridge custom mod?

Just wanna know if you think you'll work on it again or not? Without pressure of course.

It would be so, so awesome to stop having the same greyish bridge all over the map.

I just started on the textures mod again (before I saw this).

The bridges... last time it didn't work, but I think I will try it again soon.

The texture replacer mod is ready. There are a few minor issues and things which can be improved.

I want to create a small reference texture pack before I release it.

I am working on a test world that contains all buildings.

Those are all buildings of the european high density pack:

    KKaukgN.jpg

I noticed some strange things. Some textures seem to be missing: color maps, illumination maps, specular maps and normal maps. I think this is not a new issue. Maybe this is related to European Buildings Unlocker, or a bug in the game. Can anyone replicate this problem without mod, on a european map?

For me the residential 3x4 and 4x3 buildings are broken. The Commercial/Office versions work just fine. Maybe this is a serious problem that should be reported.

I'd say custom bridges too (low poly).

Boformer I too noticed there are roof colors and some other colors I haven't seen with building/district themes mod.

Have you contacted BloodyPenguin? I'm hoping for a quick hotfix :)

I'm not sure if the problems are caused by Euro buildings unlocker.

Themes mod? Maybe in-game biome LUT's? Anyhow, nice looking buildings and would of great variation to our euro districts.

For sure the issue should be reported to CO.
